trebor69
I thought you were supposed to leave the needles on and slide the face over them ......but I may be wrong.

Al Massey
You can take the needles off with two spoons. Or you can slide the dials over them. Little fiddly but it can be done mate
neil
How u do the spoons mate
Al Massey
Get 2 small spoons Place the spoon ends either side of the needle, slide underneath and slowly press down on both handles equally. It will pop off. Now once you've done everything, ie fitted new dials, wired them in etc Before you place the plastic cover back on, you will need to fit them into the car, plug them in and go for a drive to fit them otherwise they will be off. You will need a tomtom/gps to do the speedo. Completely fill the car, or empty on fuel to do the fuel gauge, have the engine at running temp for the temp gauge and leave the car to idle to do the revs.

Chris Wilson
A speedometer and a revolution counter are precision instruments. Removing the needle is highly likely to spoil the calibration. You can have real fun and games getting the needle back in the correct orientation to the spindle, and have it not read high or low. Can't you just leave the dials alone? You don't get people with new high end cars fiddling with trivia like this, why do people feel the need as a car enters its twilight days? Thomas_germany
Seems like everybody is forgetting to lift the needle over the little pin and let it sit for a while to release the 'spring'. Then mark the position, where the needle stoped moving. Take it out... and when you put it back in, just place it in the position, you marked befor. Double-check with GPS. @Chris Wilson: We in germany need to do this, b/c we need a KM/H speedo. 180 km/h is way to less in germany. And a m/h speedo is not allowed. Chris Wilson
Hello Thomas, do you not do this electronically with a frequency divider box, and just black out the MPH logo?
Thomas_germany
Hi Chris, since they use km/h in japan, we could just drive the cars here without changing it. But this would limit the speedometer to 180 km/h - and on german autobahn, that's just too less . We use a speedoconverter to miles, so it runs to 180 mph and change the 180 km/h face to a stock 300-and-something face. The scaling for 180 mph and 3xx km/h matches, what makes it possible to use a mile-converter.
