SupraLEDrears
Wondered if I should make a proper write up of this as I've always flushed it out with the garden hose and water spraying everywhere. I ended up buying a Prestone Backflush kit but sadly the UK seller did not note that the thread is American Hosepipe Thread and thus, useless here. I've decided to rake around Ebay and get some bits that would work similar. Getting some coolant flush(Leaning towards the Wynns Cooling system flush) I'm going to start by eliminating the H connector that connects the heater matrix to the other pipes. Then replacing it with this £5 aluminum pipe that I've bent and I'm going to cut it down to size when I'm doing the work. Then using this £5 brass T to connect everything up and I have no leaking onto the engine. After flushing it out with normal water, I'm going to flush the system with distilled water, drain it and then get the Toyota Red concentrate and do a 50/50 mix with the rest of the distilled water. This should sort it out the heating once and for all as my heater matrix is always clogged and the coolant fluid rusty as anything. Anyone interested in a write up with pics when I do it next week? I can also put Ebay links to all the items if anyone wants to get them.

Dnk
The Toyota coolant is pre mixed and not meant to be diluted
trebor69
When I bought my Toyota red coolant I could choose between "ready mixed" and "neat".
supra_ufo
A guide would be good mate, the other one was missing bits. I suggest bagging and labelling even taking pics of the screws next to where they should be screwed in

Yes Trebor is correct. You can get the concentrate for £4 more than the actual premixed stuff.
Dnk
Funny i've never been offered a concentrate but if they do then obviously it'll be fine to dilute it with distilled water.
Westy
I got offered the concentrate also. Works out a lot cheaper. Write ups are always good for the site.
SupraLEDrears
Ok I had some problems with a hose splitting so changed them all. I will update with pics later. I will also state that I only have WATER in my system and WILL NEVER flush ANTIFREEZE down a drain, so what you see coming out is just rusty water. Removed this Assembled this Using these hoses to flush. Left one is in, right one is out. We are only flushing the matrix out in this step as it was disconnected due to a different hose bursting and the matrix being bypassed. Connect the hose from the tap to the assembled T Turn it on slowly and this should come out. When you've run it for about 5 mins clear, then switch the hoses over and reverse flush it. I will update with pics of the new hoses and step by step flushing of all the different parts, then using a coolant flush and completing the job. It will be a couple of weeks as my mom's here and I've not seen her for 5 years, so I'm sure you'll understand.
David P
Removed this I saw a pussy cat. No wonder it was clogged up. Edited March 18, 2014 by David P (see edit history)
The-Plethora
I had a go at mine this weekend too, I wasn't having any footwell leaks and flushing and reverse flushing only seemed to do so much. It's then that I decided to use a bit of muscle...Mr Muscle that is ... This really shifts the crap out, it fizzes up nicely It's clear when it goes in, you can see all the debris coming back up the funnel. The bucket that was clear when just using water. I let water run through after for over 10 mins just to clear as much as possible. It's certainly done the trick though, the heaters are red hot , I don't think using just using water would have done that. Evil stuff though, if you use it make sure you do a prolonged flush and get it off your hands. pete.osborne69
Can an engine flush be done while the coolant/rad is still hot, I will be doing this with a hose so it is cold water, I just want to make sure it will not damage anything internally before I start or is it best to wait till the engine/rad is cold

pete.osborne69
Fair enough, I ended up waiting till it got cold anyway, however after flushing cooling system and filling up with new coolant I noticed the passengers footwell was soaking would this be a faulty heater matrix also the heater was working fine before and I am still getting the air put of the system so at the moment the heaters are not hot yet Thanks

Either that or a pipe has burst. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's a dash out job.
