supra_ufo
In order to save space, I bought a 4 in 1 Gauge from a member a while ago, it reads the boost, oil temp, oil pressure and volts. I have been running it for about a 1month with Boost and Volts and all seems well. Car is running 13/14v when the engine is running and 11/just below 12v with ignition on. Is this the norm? I plumbed in the Oil Temp and Oil Pressure sensors last weekend into a sandwich plate, the oil temp reads 60 (even when cold and goes to around 67c when driving, the pressure one doesnt work at all but I am still diagnosing this). Should the oil temp reading start at 0? do I have a dodgy sensor?
Noz
Voltage sounds normal to me. Oil temp is wrong. It's technically impossible to be 60° when cold. It should warm to well above 67°. Each setup is different, but expect above 80° for most applications. Disconnect the input wire to the gauge. Check it is zero with no sensor input. It sounds like the gauge is faulty, rather than the sensor. Or perhaps the incorrect sensor range from incorrect match of components. Are you sure the correct sensor is being used. Noz
Should be able to buy another sensor fairly cheap. Only a few quid. If you wanted to ensure it's definitely not the sensor. - - - Updated - - - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-8-NPT-Oil-Water-TEMPERATURE-TEMP-Sender-Sensor-fits-Autometer-VDO-Smiths-Gauge-/370678745409?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item564e2cc941 It would be the gauge that defines the temp range also. So water/oil use the same measure, on most after market stuff anyway.
