Guest mwohaaahaahaa
Hi All, I recently took my car to get it properly fixed at Whifbitz garage. I have been so pleased with the service I received and resulting performance my car now has, I thought I would write a review on here stating how happy I am. Just a bit of back ground on my car first of all. Since I bought the car it had never boosted from the first turbo. I have had local mechanics look at it and they have spent weeks trying to solve this issue. Everything had been check but to no avail so I decided that I should take my car to a specialist who has experience with this type of car. I decided that Whifbitz was to be my garage of choice. When I took my car there, I had a list of jobs that needed doing as well as sorting out the turbo boost issue. All of which were done to a high standard. The turbos needed replacing (as there were bits missing from the old ceramic exhaust turbines) so I asked if I could get the new billet hybrid turbos that Whifbits are developing. They said yes and replaced the turbos. There was still an boost issue and it wasn't due to the usual suspects being the vsvs or actuators or boost leaks which made it very tricky to solve. However, Darren and Paul did some lateral thinking using their experience (which is why I am glad I took my car to the specialists) and managed to solve the issue. I can now report the new turbos are giving some awesome response and performance and I only have good things to say about the final result. FYI my car specs are as follows encase anyone else is thinking of upgrading to these turbos (which I can definitely recommend) Mines ecu Blitz boost controller Arc intercooler and hardpipe kit decats and after market exhaust induction kit it has the standard jap spec injectors and everything else on the engine side of the car is stock. Currently running round 1.1 bar of boost. At present the limiting factor in getting more power from my car is the ECU and injectors. once I upgrade these I will remap and will be able to get much more out of the new turbos. When i get this work done I will be taking my car back to Whifbitz as I received such good service. Thank you Whifbitz. Tristan Edited March 3, 2014 by mwohaaahaahaa I stupidly wrote the wrong name of the garage like in the title. woops (see edit history)

Guest mwohaaahaahaa
You're alive What was the boost issue that Darren and Paul found then mate? If it wasn't VSV's etc we think it is a wiring fault. A variation on the Stu hagen mod has been used to work round the problem. I was going to do this mod anyway. For now I am keeping it fairly conservative at just under 0.8 bar of boost from the first turbo and I still get just over 1.1 bar of boost from the second turbo. Tristan I will probably be looking to book mine in soon as I have been having issues for months (I don't think it is the turbos though) and can't seem to get anyone to sort it locally! slugger1
whats up with it i live near portsmouth no expert but know a little.. When accelerating at slow speeds the car almost holds back then suddenly bursts into life. It also does this at higher speeds but to a lessor extent. Can be a bit dodgy especially when pulling away from junctions etc because it hardly moves! It doesn't do it all the time so not sure what the issue is. The gearbox was suggested as the problem to start with but after getting it swapped I still had the same issues! The o/d light is continually flashing and it runs very rich but not sure if all the symptoms are related. I've taken it to Toyota (bloody useless) and a couple of other garages locally but they don't have a clue. I have looked at the error codes and got a 42 at one point but after resetting the ecu it hasn't returned. Any clue what the problem might be? TT Paul
fuel filter? sounds like something is restricted bogging eng down when under load what happens when foot on brake and in drive ticking over/pulling ok?
slugger1
fuel filter? sounds like something is restricted bogging eng down when under load what happens when foot on brake and in drive ticking over/pulling ok? Yes it ticks over ok when stationery. I did think it might be a fuelling issue but then why does the problem not occur all of the time? TT Paul
pulling away or hi speed more fuel needed could be filter on pump or in fuel line under passenger footwell when was it last changed

It's due for a service later this month so maybe I'll get it changed then. Will let you know if it resolves the problem.

Possibly a cut in one of the vacuum pipes that control the turbos or small boost leak somewhere, causing a delay i.e your turbos are delaying to kick in as when you first accelerate they ain't spinning that fast so no power but eventually they outpower the leak. Its a theory but could be right
hiten55
Im having exactly the same issue in mine - be interesting to see what you find out - im going to check my vacuum hoses this week at some point, i'll let you know if i find anything
