Fly
Steve.m you are the winner.....hence the reason why six liters of oil found it's way very quickly into my expansion tank and radiator. Thankfully it didn't get into the bores , that all came out the head when I pulled it. The colour is due to a mixture of Fuchs Titan pro and toyota 4life.....very pink

Fly
I fired a pm to raven too so hopefully his issue which has the same symptoms as mine did can be resolved...all I can put it down to is either rushing or being tired,,,,,, that age old saying cones to mind. Only two things come from rushing, trapped fingers and babies
Shane
Many many years ago when I was young and foolish (now I am old and still foolish), I had a cracked head on a Ducato van whilst in Romania working. I had a managed to get a second hand head and a new hg and put it all together by the side of the road. Seemed fine at first but quickly discovered that under load it overheated quickly but if I took it really gently it was just about OK. Desperate to get me and the van home I had a painfully slow drive back with regular boil ups and lots of coasting down the hills trying to cool it after the climbs. Same thing, doing it by torch light with in a remote village with a drunken audience I had put the head gasket on back to front. All the bolts lined up fine but the main water flow between the head and block above the water pump had been 90% blocked and the only flow at that point was through a small hole intended for a location pin. Well done for sussing it out and hope the damage isn't too severe.
Swampy442
that age old saying cones to mind. Dude, you fly jets for a living, hope thats not the case on the throttle! But looks like a quick fix, if a bit of a pain in the ass.
