new car problems

im going to be buying my 1st supra on sat but the bloke has said that the od light flashes and when the car reaches 80mph the engine management light comes on can anyone help? the car was on here the number plate was k30 bye

Could be dry solder joints on the back of the dash.

 

The two issues could also be completely unrelated. If he's selling the car with these issues, it's quite obvious that he doesn't know what the cause is, and that he's incapable of fixing it. Insist he gets it seen to by a garage that knows Supra (and I'd want some proof of this) or walk away.

 

Even if he knocks you some money off for these issues, it is quite likely a false economy. These cars can be seriously expensive to fix!!!

Contact Lee P on here, he maybe able to give you some solid information on what you potentially "could" have to fix and a rough fixing cost. Might be best to go in armed with as much info as possible.

 

Someone said earlier "Don't get suckered in by a shiny car and some aftermarket wheels" they are right too as a few things are biting me on my arse atm :rolleyes:

If it's speed related it *may* be as simple as a faulty speedo convertor or possibly a faulty/removed front auto front spoiler. The seller mentions it has been worked on by Whifbitz, may be worth getting in contact with Paul (see traders section) to see if he knows the car.
