MichaelG
Having sold the Soop last month the money is starting to burn a hole in my pocket. I had initially planned to keep it until the new year, and buy another Evo. Best car i have ever had performance wise......and i would love another one. But in the last week or so, i have been thinking about spending a wedge of it on something else....... The girlfriend has a new Style Mini Cooper. Very nice car, lowered, bodykit, induction kit, 17"s, Stainless Exhaust, Tints, Chrome bitties, etc etc and of late i have been thinking about going VERY individual, and going the route of getting it Turbocharged. Having trouble searching on the internet for a company who can do the job so far though, so its proving a bit harder than i thought. So first question is.......are there any Mini fans on here that can point me in the right direction ? Second option, is to keep most of the money, and buy a project car, i have always liked cleaning up my cars to a stupid proportion, and quite fancy buying an old Series 1 Escort RS Turbo (totally still got appeal and becoming very rare now) and keeping it as a car to just tinker with over time and play about with (not full restoration as that would cost an arm and a leg) just buy a decent one to start with and keep it clean and good cond. So........i was totally bored tonight, money is burning a hole, and i am probably talking shi* lol but wondered what you guys thought of either of these options......or would i be better just keeping the money til next year and stick with the Evo idea...... Mucho comments appreciated........as you can tell i am totally head up my ar5e as to what to do now and starting to wonder if i should have sold the car as i am a wreck without some sort of motor to play with lol. Cheers ! Michael
Clarkey
If practicality isn't an issue I'd be tempted to buy a Caterham.
Bobbeh
Buy a Civic, and invest the rest in Bonds or something
MichaelG
I have thought about something like that Clarkey, but i really wouldnt use it mate. Sold the Supra because i cleaned it to within an inch of its life then lost interest lol. Bobbeh - I dont have a clue about investment and would probably lose the lot lol !! Jake
How much £ have you got to play with Michael?
MichaelG
Well i got the money from the Supra, plus some of my own, plus i could put in some more between now and end of year if i dont do anything immediately......so anything between like 10-14k but didnt really want to spend all that again. Hence the smaller project ideas.........
Daston
oooh you get an oldish TVR lots of grunt plus tinkering and becoming quite cheap so you will have a large wedge left over

michael
Buy a Koenig manifold as an incentive to get the rest of the car later: http://www.koenig-specials.com/ferrari/ferrari-f50.html If you don't get the car you can use it as an art piece. AJI
blow it all on hats ! or a MkII escort... turn it into a rally monster.... there are a few up in my area which have been 80% converted into a full on rally car but are still used as an everyday run around ! Or a cheap early scooby turbo or EVO turbo for around £4to5K... and do the same thing... spend the rest on turning it into something mental. Sharpie
Mini - Have a chat with Jagman (on here), I'm sure he put's Supercharger/Tubbie's on them for a living and has good links into BMW....

Definitely have a word with Adam. They run a very slick operation albeit a bit far from you. http://www.minimaniauk.com/
tDR
GTI-R - Ugly as sin and chocolate gearboxes. Build quality of an early transit van too If you liked the evo but want to spend less, why not consider an ST205 model Celica GT-Four? Bloody quick with BPU mods, same engine as the rev3+ MR2 Turbo's except more power (decent chargecooler), much better brakes (v. similar to UK spec Supra brakes) and good ones can be had for around £6k now. MichaelG
Cheers for the pointers in the mini direction guys, thats definitely one of the more likely possibilities....... Theres a series 1 RS Turbo i am considering on ebay, the guy wants £4600 for it.......near concours condition.....not far from it......but the only thing that keeps sticking in my mind is that its a 20 year old escort I did also consider a GTI-R for all of 5 mins but over 300bhp they are very unreliable and prone to blowing up unless you go for the Norris £7000 conversion
Muffleman
Where's the fun in buying a concours one I too have a soft spot for the S1 turbo. I can definitely recommend the MR2 turbo, easily tuneable and cheap too. Insurance is also sensible, but they aren't exactly spacious ! I love the look of the Evo 5, so I'd be tempted by one of them aswell. Decisions decisions eh
