Josh42
Hi, Had my head checked today using a UKAS calibrated straight edge, feeler gauges and surface table. Looks to be a .2mm variance as opposed to the Toyota tolerance of 0.1mm. Is this safe to be skimmed? No other face-either manifold or intake was out of spec. Dnk
The exhaust and intake faces would only be out if the head was twisted, you can easily skim both of those if they were. As i said on f/b the concern is the cam journals being out of line by the same amount that the face is which isn't great to say the least. New head in my opinion or one that's much flatter, 0.1 max and preferably less than that if you can find one.
Ian C
This intrigued me so I did some trig on it and the camshaft will be bent 0.0075 degrees Doesn't sound too bad to me

Josh42
It's an NA head Si. PM me if you like:) cheers!
Dnk
If you can Josh get the head face down on a vertical milling machine, pack the face of the head off the machine table using 4 matching ground blocks, 2 at each end then run along the journals with clock mounted in the spindle or use a mag mounted clock. The head will need to be clocked up square to the table doing this, i'd check the head you have this way and any new heads you may buy
