hiten55
Been searching on the forum but every thread i came across is about how to remove them. I need to get a new set, due to various mishaps and shoddy mechanics - thread coming soon. Any suggestions of what makes, what size/type and what kind etc etc? does it depend on anything in particular or are they all pretty much the same? cheers, H. kitch79
I got my mine from honda, they are really good. Good 'key' and the outside spins so if u got a pair of eagle beaks or mole grips on them, all u can turn is the collar. You'd have to make sure the nut has the same flat or curved base. OEM nuts for OEM alloys (mine 16 inch import) are flat surface.

The measurements on the ad look a bit messed up, but they fitted fine
stevie_b
Mine are made by McGuard (IIRC) which you can buy from Halfords etc. As kitch said, ensure you buy ones with the correctly-shaped surface that mates properly onto the wheel. The spinning collar thing sounds like a good idea if they're not prohibitively expensive.

I think I paid just over £30 from honda, £50 from toyota (but the had none in, so didnt see the type they were) Honda were really good, they let me leave the parts dep with them, open it up, and check to make sure :-1 the sat correctly into the curve :-2 they didnt poke to far out and prevent my alloy cover fitting on... and :-3 correct thread. (think all JDM are the same tho, could be wrong)
Nic
The Mcgard Ultra locking wheel nuts are suppose to be some of the best in terms of security, they have a rotating head which makes forcing them off very difficult. http://www.mcgard.de/en/home/automotive/radsicherungsbolzen/sl-ultra-high-security.html I'm using Richbrook forged aluminium nuts, good quality, reasonable price and they still look brand new after being fitting for over a year. http://www.richbrook.co.uk/aluminium-nuts-locking-wheel-nuts/forged-aluminium-locking-wheel-nuts154 WebRep

Josh
Thanks for the replies - how do i know what size i need to go for? who knew nuts could be so technical Who/where did you get the wheels from? You need to check how the nuts fit into the holes. The ones I posted in my link are the right shape (angle) to fit the BBS LMs, but may not fit other makes of wheels. Nic
Thanks for the replies - how do i know what size i need to go for? who knew nuts could be so technical M12 x 1.5 thread pitch. What wheels are they to fit? most aftermarket wheels are designed to use nuts with a 60 degree taper.
hiten55
Hi Nic, it says design Rs on the cap. does have standard toyota nuts at the mo so im assuming the size you wrote will work?
Nic
Most aftermarket wheels use a 60 degree tapered seat. M12x1.5 is the size you need. The holes in the wheels are very deep and narrow, looks like you'll need to use internal drive (tuner) wheel nuts. The Mcgard Locking Wheel Buts should fit.
