Fuel hose help.

Im making a fuel system for my car and purely for aesthetic reasons I wanted black hose with purple fittings. After hearing you get fuel smells from normal braided rubber hose (something personally Ive never experienced) Im erring towards teflon hose, which means stainless hose and normal colour fittings.

So if I was to go with normal rubber hose, would something like this be any better at reducing the fuel smells?

Call me old fashioned, call me paranoid, but personally I will not run push on fittings for fuel lines. Plenty of people do, but to me I like a full mechanical compression type fitting on fuel lines.
