JohnK
I need to rotate the aluminium part around 90 degrees, Can I just undo the 4 screws arrowed and move it? What does the screw in the center hold?
Miguel
The centre screw does absolutely nothing ..Its just the 4 around the outside ..Take some of the tension up in a vice when doing though as them springs have a bite.
JohnK
So I can safely do it without fear of ripping the diaphram or anything? Having never had one apart and no diagrams, im a little unsure.
Miguel
Yup you will be fine. The top Bolt is puerly a block for another port if required. Just as long as you have a wide enough vice to take up some of the tension, otherwise she will fire the top half up the road. It's very very simple inside with not a lot to go wrong or mess up . There's only a spring, a spring cup that sits on the diaphram and the diaphram itself..which is quite sturdy. Nothing difficult ..just go carefull. JohnK
Thanks Mig, as always your on top of the game. On another note, I could block the current port and use the center one instead? That may save me turning it 90 degrees.
Miguel
You can Indeed sir. That bolt originaly was for the GT2 series which has ajustable pre loads for the springs. On yours its just blocked off, as they use the same castings( lazyness) across the board. So yep you can indeed use it as a vac/press port. Miguel
Just to clarify its the top port you need to rotate and not the bottom, closest to the valve, you need to rotate?
JohnK
Its the port in the aluminium end furthest away from the valve, sits too close to the steering knuckle for my likeing.
