Poshmalc
Hi guys, I'm sure it's come up before but no previous posts seem to cure my problem. I have bled the system by raising the car and topping up/turning left and right then starting up left right etc but my power steering is now whining and juddering like mad. I have cleared the air from the system, at least it's not spluttering out now, but it is whining like mad and I can't seem to sure it! Is the pump totalled? The steering is actually okay albeit juddery! Anyone got any ideas? Will it disappear? Please help! Matt
Guest Budz86
Stupid question maybe but you've made sure it's completely topped up? Sometimes after bleeding it still needs a little more fluid. Bleed it, run the car for 5 mins, then check the level again and top up if needed. Also, when bleeding how fast are you turning the wheel? Should be a fairly slow and constant movement HTH
TheTurtleshead
Have you put the clips on the large pipe into the pump back on properly? This won't leak as it's sucking back into the pump from the reservoir... If a clip isn't on it will pull air into the system constantly and won't bleed. Been there lol! Poshmalc
I didn't take any pipes off of the pump, I painted the reservoir a couple of weeks back! Bled the whole system, stopped the volcano, but now it won't stop juddering and whining, yep full and kept full! Very strange one! - - - Updated - - - Was pretty constant and kept the reservoir topped up!
Pulley
Only other thing that maybe can cause the whine is if you've pinched the cooling pipe when you pulled it away to install the intercooler I know if you restrict the cooling pipe it labours the pump and makes it whine
Poshmalc
Everything's worked fine until now mate, even before I painted the pot and had my my intercooler installed!
Poshmalc
Just taken it for a run and it seems to have died down quite a bit, but is still noticeable at low speed turning!
bignum
Sometimes you have to let the fluid settle overnight, the fluid will have tiny air bubbles which make the pump whine.

I'd be inclined to drive it for a couple of days and keep an eye on the level, wouldn't worry about it just yet
