Suprash
Hey all, So still struggling with some differences between blocks, so can we anyone tell me what feeds back into the block thats marked out in the red square in the attached picture, thanks It looks to be an oil drain, as we're pretty sure its feeding back into the sump ? I also need to know what size to drill and tap this if anyone knows the pitch size ?

Chris Wilson
The shop manual should show you, but from memory it's the boss for the rear turbo support bracket. But check....
Suprash
Judging by what others have said Chris, you are right, but I was positive on my old block this was drilled right through to one of the ways ? I must be mistaken but will check when I get home, because I have been sat there for ages starring at it thinking "what line goes there ?" lol
Chris Wilson
There's no hole right through there, (or at least there certainly shouldn't be....).
Nodalmighty
There's no hole right through there, (or at least there certainly shouldn't be....). Could it be drilled right though and tapped? Looks ideal for a oil/air separater drain back. Lyndon.
Chris Wilson
It is definitely the mount for the bottom of the bracket supporting the rear turbo, I just checked on a couple of blocks I am building. Just by the pan rail is not a good place to start a potential stress raiser in a highly stressed block, but I guess you could drill through if you really wanted to. But a decent oil / air separator drain would need to be .75 to 1 inch ID, so it's really too close to the edge of the block's rail. In the alloy section below would be far better, as Toyota did for the turbo drain.
