Supra Ems
Hi, In the middle of changing the gearbox mount in my 6 speed NA. Got a TRD one from Whifbitz. We have removed the cover plate but but are having trouble getting to all the bolts on the old mount itself. Does anyone know if you gave to drop the transmission to get to them? Cheers and sorry if my terminology is wrong!! Emm[GRIN][/GRIN]

Well it was mainly getting to the bolts at the back that was difficult. The rest was fairly straightforward! Just put car on axle stands, we used a jack to support the gearbox. remove the 4 bolts in the centre of the cover plate then remove the outer 4 (2 on each end) to release the cover plate. Used a spanner to remove the 4 bolts attaching the mount to the gearbox, starting with the 2 visible ones first (I.e. The ones nearest the rear of the car), then attempted to get the other two off - this was hard as you can't see them very well and space is very tight for tools etc! We lowered the gearbox a bit by lowering the jack to give a bit more space to work in and one the bolts were loosened with a ring spanner (think 14mm) we could undo them by hand. Reverse this to replace the mount [GRIN][/GRIN] We used a TRD mount which I have found to really amplify the gear change sounds and gearbox noise (not in a good way) probably because it is so stiff, so perhaps go for the, presumably softer, OEM one! Hope that helps someone in the future!
