Speed Limiter issue

Recommended Posts

I have a GReddy type A speed limiter installed in my car as 180k is just pittiful in Germany and I exceed it on a nearly daily basis.

My speed limiter has been intalled for years and I have always had a wierd issue with it, I even swapped it with a new one a few years ago and the issue remains.

About 20- 30% of the time the speed limiter is active. the car drives normally and the only way you know is when you slam into the speed limiter and everyone you just passed is laughing at you as they struggle up to 190 or so.

I have to then look for the next services / rest stop to pull over. I shut the car off wait a few seconds restart it and head back out on the Autobahn and floor it and fly past the 180 kmh limiter. This is embarrasing as hell when some punk in is riding up your ass in traffic and you spank it just to feel like you hit a wall.

Any ideas

Does this Greddy limiter fit behind the dash/speedo cluster? Or is it next to the engine ecu? Or is it possible you have 2 fitted?

it is the one that goes next to the ecu. When Ibought the car the speedo didn't work because an mph converter installed in it had gone bad. I yanked it out and wired it back to stock so can confirm there is not a second one fitted.
