Help. ARP head studs

Fly

Recommended Posts

In thd middle of fitting the arp studs and nuts for the cylinder head. The instructions say to install the head studs finger tight. It then talks of fitting the head back on and then putting the nuts on etc and torquing them to a value.

My question is do you ever tighten the studs more than just finger tight as it's not mentioned in the instructions?

Obviously the head will be pulled down by torquing the bolts but the studs just bring hand tight seems strange.

Thdnks

Thanks lee . I chased out the threads first to ensure dirt free it just seemed odd to not tighten then more than finger tight. Yup found that out, I removed the studs with the head still fitted installed the washer then reinstalled the stud

Good stuff, make sure you use the ARP lube on the stud threads, bolts and washers also
