Drgray
Just some things I want to sort but any idea where I can get the parts from? Also is the dent in the exhaust pipe fixable or affect performance? I must have went over a speedbump at 1mph instead of 0.5mph Edited January 26, 2014 by Drgray (see edit history)
Drgray
Also just to add, I didnt do the carbon cover in case any one slates me for it. As you can see the gator is not fixed and I can see underneath the gearstick. It is also not connected just under the knob at the top so I can pull it down (shown in second photo). The headlight seals need renewing or do you think i should just use adhesive and stick it back in? I forgot to upload another photo but the other headlight seal is not there on the underside of the cover. So is there anywhere I can get these? As for the last photo, its the gap between the roof and boot, as you can see its rusting in between and wondering if I can do anything about it? mwilkinson
The rust will need to be dealt with by a body shop. The boot lid will need to be removed to facilitate this but its quite an easy repair in my mind. Is your car a manual or is that some modified auto lever? The reason I say this is the fact that the surround you have there appears to be from an automatic and is not a manual surround. This is likely why the leather gaiter isn't attached. The manual shifter has a plastic bit below the gear knob which holds the gaiter in place and facilitates the reverse gear select. Furthermore, the auto selector surround was never designed to have a leather gaiter, so not sure how it is attached at the base either, if at all? The weather strip on the headlight can be easily repaired with some mastic or other type of waterproof glue. Ref getting hold of a spare strip there are plenty of people on here with old headlight units who might be able to help. Might be worth contacting Dude, Keron or LeeP or Paul W to see if any of them have this part spare hanging around. I'm sure one of them will come through for you. I'm afraid I can't comment on any performance impact from the dented exhaust, but I would say if there was any it would be negligible. Drgray
The car is a w58 manual 5 speed, as for the weatherstrip you mention, i have the same sort of problem on the other headlight but on the underside rather than the top. I will ask the people you mentioned and see if any are available
