Guest Roger NE
On the Ignition Coil (on an N/A) there is the main black connector . . . but what is the grey connector that is bolted to the bracket underneath? Could it possibly be the Noise Suppressor? (I was just going to add one to my 2JZ-GE install in my Mk3 Supra . . . but wondered if there's already one there?) Hope somebody can help. Nodalmighty
Yes, I think it is. Does it have one of two wires to it? If it's one then it definatly is the suppressor. Lyndon. Guest Roger NE
It has two wires going to it . . . that's why I figured it might just be the Suppression decoupling capacitor. The thin bit of loom coming from near the distributor splits into two . . . one branch goes to the black HT Coil connector (just 2 wires), the other goes to this grey connector mounted under the Coil (2 wires). Nodalmighty
Sounds like the suppressor to me then. Some only have one connection and ground though the body. regards, Lyndon.
Chris Wilson
It's a capacitor, acts as an ignition noise suppressor. The module may not like running with it disconnected / missing. Nor might the ecu.
Guest Roger NE
Thanks Lyndon. And I realise that Chris - the capacitor is there to decouple the RF spikes on the ignition coil supply. I wasn't planning to remove it - I was going to wire one in (from my 7M engine), but then realised that there might already be one there ! Many thanks.
