Insurance for your other cars...

Hey guys,

For those of you with more than one vehicle, how do you insure your other car, and do you get your no claims on both?

I have another car which I want to keep, it's registered in my name but I want the rest of my family to be able to use it, with one of them as the main driver. I thought no problem, they can insure it in their name, and use their no claims bonus (6 years) and I'll be a named driver.

However as far as I can tell (from the current insurer) it has to be insured in my name, as I am the owner. They did offer to match my no claims on both cars, right up to the point where I told them what the other was (they won't touch it). It seems I would have to either insure the second car with 0 no-claims even though I have 6 years protected on the first car, or transfer the vehicle into someone elses name. :swear:

Anyone with any experience here who can help.

I'll be ringing Jae shortly to see whether Sky will match my no claims on the second car.

thanks

Mike

I've just used my no claims on the Supra and got a basic insurance on the Renault - mainly because I don't want anyone who drives the Renault (Zoe) to crash it and lose me my NCB!!

I don't see a problem with having your NCB on 2 different companies on 2 different cars though.

Just spoken to Jae, seems its the truth, however because both vehicles will be insured through Sky, he can offer a "mirror", based on the first vehicle's no-claims, this works out to be approximately 65% no claims.

so this might be the way forward... still works out 200 quid more expensive than my first quote (before they found out about the first car)

hmmmmm... Insurance is an 4r$£..

I'm in the same situation. Umpteen years' NCB in the supra, hence 0 NCB on the, ahem, Metro. If I crashed the Metro, would that affect my supra NCB? I hope not!
