Japfest 2014 - Saturday 10th May 2014 @ Castle Combe Circuit

I have to say, giving the Event team grief for what Japfest decided to Allocate the Club is just daft, it takes a lot of time and effort to organise this stuff, but unfortunately we can not control where the Event decide to ask us to park for our stand

I was not on the Club Stand this year and I came up and chatted to a few of you and I will agree the space was not big enough considering the amount of Supra's there should of been attending, but no way can Lui or Listy do anything about this on the Day

As for the Blue Supra parked across the front, it was not the best bit of parking at a show and to be totally honest I would not of been happy about it either and they should of made sure a few people could get hold of them to move if necessary etc

As for the change of Route, I came up in a different Convoy and we were diverted as well. No one knew in advance about the diversion and it was being enforced by the Police to try and reduce the traffic queuing on the Motorway. If you anyone has an issue with the Diversion Route I suggest contacting the Police rather than blaming Listy, as it was out of his control

The road was poor, but my Supra is low ish and the Green RX7 that Jared drives is ground hugging and we managed it, admittedly slowly at times and dodging around holes a lot, to be honest, parts of the M5 are worse at the moment, I hit a huge hole at about 80mph and how the Supra didn't spin or ground out I have no idea

I had a good day, I think we got away very lightly with the weather. I think the spot was okay, but could have been bigger. But im not going to make a scene about it because I can imagine its not easy for Lui to try find a patch of grass for 30+cars. I think the area we were was good because dads car got abit of interest and was nice chatting to people about it. All in all I enjoyed the day :)

I was hoping to bump into you and ask about the build of the car and meet the famous Chris bailey :) but totally slipped my mind when I got there.

You seem to have got allot of stick for your efforts Listy and although I ended up on a different stand I still got my ticket from you originally and I would 100% say thanks for going out of the way to organise the group tickets regardless of a few mishaps that seem to have come about.

I did speak to a few of you when I walked past Lewisdanny dodgyrog etc it was nice seeing you all and putting faces to names anyway :) ....

You met my dad then

I'm just getting stick because someone/some people didn't like the route I took to the event.

As a club it can,t control the weather , the event organisers placement of the club stand , or the way some members park on the stand . Even though you do get an occasional mishap regarding parking , I think the day overall went well . I,m sorry to read the negative points some of us have made ( which I totally understand ) but in fairness, the club always does its best to organise this one event annually and gets it right 99% of the time . I came the same way Listy went and thought the route was,nt the best , but under the circumstances had no option unless driving a further 5 mls .

If next years Japfest warrants it , I will, if it helps , be happy to be at Japfest early on the day to organise parking , in order to everyone having a great day .

We understand that you are not happy about it, but to keep having a go about makes us wonder why we even bother to try and organise any event in our spare time.

My hubby is an events organiser on here, im fully aware of what goes into organising an event / convoys etc im simply saying it could have been done better.

It was Lui who organised the tickets etc ;)

your not getting stick sweetheart just voicing my opinion ;)

Anyone care to drop me a note of thanks for not going and making some extra room on the Club "stand" ?

(or should that read Club "patch of grassy mud")?

Reading the comments, I think I made the right decision - at least my fuel tank is still full and ready for a sunny day.............:D

Interesting to read the different views. I've been to two previous but didn't go this year due to the 4.30am start and 4 hour drive, however I was deliberating right up to the last week when I saw the weather report, so decided against - however it sounds like apart from a couple of showers and looking at the photos the weather was good.

A difficult job for the club organisers but they have always done an excellent job in the past, I've done the mega convoy and did get carried a way a couple of times but a great experience as well as a mini convoy which was equally good, especially going down the country lanes to miss the main traffic for the last miles in - I do think a gazebo and banners is a good idea though. I realise they do cost money but they would make the stands look so much better. Just my opinion...

Japfest 2 anyone? plenty of off-grass parking for the club stand!

Had a good day... I think the drift cars and seeing Top Gear being filmed saved it for me. Also had a chat with team Lucas Oil and Mark Luney which was pretty sweet.

I think Japfest have a cheek to call our spot on the side of muddy track a club stand, but props to our organisers for putting it all together.

If we could get where the GT4's were, that would be awesome.

As of the next month I will have constant internet again and would happily volunteer myself to help out for events.

Personally I had a great day and credit to the organisers for sorting it out, granted our pitch was too small but that's not their fault and it was a shame the flags etc wernt there, if I had know it was due to nobody wanting responsibility for them I would have gone and got them.

Sounds a pretty crap event, glad I didn't make the journey. I think the weather is a killer on any outdoor car event especially on grass. Mud, rain and clean cars don't mix well. I image if it was better weather there may be less complaints.

I did offer the flags and banners but nobody wanted to take responsibility for them

Your always get a minority who will not lift a finger to help ,soon as somebody else take charge they will come to the event

I wasn't aware mate. I'd have quite happily taken responsibility, although with the wind it probably wasn't the best idea to put them up anyway.

Probably was a good idea we didn't have banners or a tent. As said above the wind was horrendous and one guy would of had to stand there holding it just in case ha! Ironically I actually wanted to hide my car as it was in a poor state. I'd have happily swapped with the member who has been saying about how he got blocked in. Especially if I knew you had kids. One for future reference to anyone :) I've only got me and one mate to worry about at these events and we don't mind getting wet as much as children. I had a brilliant day
