Jordanmol
Hi just wondering if anyone can help me my car has a twin plate clutch and after a journey down the motorway I came to a stop and could not engage gear 1st or reverse. It felt like the clutch wasn't releasing. Is there any adjustment to be made anywhere or is it time for a new clutch?
Dan_Turism0
sure it's not just the release bearing that needs replacing?
Fly
You can adjust the clutch pedal by undoing the nut and rotating the bar above the pedal. If its been fine for many miles though this may just be a short term fix. How long has the clutch been fitted for?
jumpbike
potential answer could be something I had on my polo years ago, gear oil isn't the most monitored of a cars fluids and if it has a tiny leak eventually there isn't enough left to both cover the gears and also keep the box cool so you go down the motorway at 70 ish for a bit, you finally pull off and the gears have got that hot they wont engage any more because of the heat expansion. I was eventually alerted that oil level was my problem when my 5th gear fell to bits in the box. Just an idea

Jordanmol
As far as I'm aware the clutch has been in there a long while now. Thanks for all the answers I'm gonna have a go at it today with your suggestions to see if it helps.
