Dazzi
Nice work. Finally got round to throwing mine together today. I disabled the shift lock also. Need to have a play around with the gear gaiter to fit better. Not a bad mod, cost me around £

Scoot
Any write up on this? Might give it a shot when i'm back from Afghan.
David P
You could fit a dummy clutch pedal and wire it to one of those electric dump valve thingies. I find the O.E. shifter ergonomically tactile, especially in MANU mode.

Mamos95
Can anyone give me some advice please on how to disable the shift lock? I’m doing the same thing but with a manual gear surround to make it that little bit more convincing [emoji23]

PJJ
Why would you disable shift lock??? Meaning you can unexpectedly shift into reverse or park whilst moving at speed, crazy.

I did it at first, but soon changed it back. It's easy to feel the shift lock mechanism through the gear gaiter. Mamos95
What about turning the shifter into a push down to realise? [emoji848] heard good thoughts about that. It’s more about getting into reverse quicker. Thanks for the tip though.

Drilled a small hole in the bolt head, and tapped the thread for the push rod on the auto shifter. Then screwed the bolt onto the shift rod (upside down), then screwed the gear knob to the bolt. Chris Wilson
In fairness, it's empowering and tempting, but so are boob jobs for women When you get a grip of them reality returns though.

Mk4Gaz
Ok, so here's a couple of pictures of what I did. The bolt is spaced high enough to enable the shift knob to push down.....
