mk1its
Guys After a whiff of smoke the other day after coming off boost and finally getting my hands on a 550bhp capable SMIC, it's time to think about single turbo. My aim ever since getting a Supra has been a 500bhp everyday car (car is currently fully BPU with a HKS EVC V). My current limitation is the W58 box that has been known to break around the 500 mark however, with that in mind, the TS04 Turbo is apparently good for 450bhp which would be a nice step into single territory, ready to fit a more capable turbo when the gearbox is upgraded this year. With that in mind and a search already tried on this forum, does anyone have any info on a TS04 turbo? Does anyone also have a link to a single turbo conversion guide; I will browse however there may be a few out there. I know I'll need the following so far: Manifold Turbo Various oil lines??? Thanks in advance for any help. Cheers Mark

mk1its
Not sure, I found out about it through on mkiv.com..... A guy there listed several turbos that were applicable to a supra, both single and twin options..
bignum
The w58 is known to shit itself at anything above 350-400 bhp. Also if you are going 450-500 you`ll need injectors and something to control them.

My car is full bpu now and I guess that's around the 400 mark? Gearbox seems fine....
tkddav3
A mate of mine has blown like 3 w58s and his car must be around the 400 mark

mk1its
Depends on how you want to use it. I've got 201bhp blade for acceleration, I want a car with good mid range grunt.... If i want to be quick off the lights I would have kept me scooby. I get what your saying but it completely depends on what you want your car for. No track days for me, nor heavy standing starts. I'm 36,not 22 anymore....

tooquicktostop
Pointless going to the trouble and expense of fitting a single for 450 bhp, a good BPU car is not far from that anyway, going single is a big expense to do properly, especially is you have a 6 speed in the plan as well

I could be wrong but if I go single at 450bhp, will I have done most the work to then step it up to 500bhp+ when I have sourced a 6sp box? Pig
Spend the money on a 6speed box. BPU is a great car. Once 6 speed you can then look to go single - which to do properly is bloody expensive.
