j_jza80
This one's had some serious money spent on it. http://www.carsensor.net/usedcar/detail/CU2452228129/index.html?TRCD=200002
Gaz6002
Talk about a retrograde step! I can appreciate the work, but for me that's like using the holy grail to drink a WKD out of.
j_jza80
I don't see it as a "retrograde step", the RB26 is just different. More rev happy than the 2JZ, and it sounds nicer, but is also more expensive to maintain. It's not something I'd choose to do myself, but I like it all the same. MattP
Now that's a jap tuner car.... Big body kit and wing with a mix and match of parts, I personally like it but it's the complete opposite of my current supra modification goals all the same that is a hell of a car. If so would be more like 20k by the time its over here, but you are right it is a lot of car for the money

pedrosixfour
Cool looking car, shame about the power plant. Can't fathom why an RB26 would be preferable to a 1JZ if a revvy lump was the prerequisite for the engine swap, other than "Hey, look what we can do" For some reason, to me, it just seems wrong to put one of these engines in a MKIV. j_jza80
As I said before, there are pros and cons. The RB is generally heavier than the JZ, and the fabrication work does make this swap seem a bit daft. But, I always like seeing engine swaps, if only from an engineering/fabrication point of view. Abz
I agree, although a fantastic engine, perhaps not the right car to put it in.
Axle
They did a good job making the Supra look ugly. Talented person.
Branners
Rb26 has a huge number of race tune type parts compared to the 2jz. When I built the TorqueIC shop many many years ago I remember looking at cams part numbers from HKS alone, the choice was huge. So if you want to race tune then it does give more options. A lot of the tuning houses knew how to get big power out of an RB, so rather than develop the 2jz they just threw an RB in there and developed that. Less of a requirement now with all the tuning parts for the 2jz.
Shane
I am pretty sure the supra used in the Smokey Nagata stunt on the A1 all those years ago was fitted with the RB26.
Branners
Yep, Top Secret were one of those companies that didnt develop the 2jz, they just worked out how to drop the RB in to get the power they needed. Quite a few of their Supras had the RB in.
