Scott
That's the same mixed up information that's been around from the start. The FT-1 was never meant to be the BMW/Toyota collaboration. At the beginning it was people reading between the lines, adding 2 and 2 and coming up with 94. Unless things have changed massively, it's still the same regurgitated misinformation. tbourner
It does seem like these mags talk about "the new Supra" a lot and stick in pictures of the FT-1, but never actually specify "that engine is going in that concept".
Thorin
Certainly doesn't look like a 2l 4 cylinder in the concept.
Kaan W
Needs a 6 cylinder of some sort and over 3 litres. But I wouldn't speak too soon it could be pretty quick still.
Dnk
I'd like the hybrid version and the option of a full fat job with a normally aspirated v10 shoved in there

tbourner
What's so bad about a hybrid anyway? From the "low" end i8: The electric drive, a powerful 131hp motor, is located on the front axle. In contrast, the rear axle is driven by a powerful BMW TwinPower Turbo 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. With 231hp of peak performance and up to 320Nm of torque, combined with the electrical boost of the hybrid system, it guarantees undeniable BMW driving pleasure. These two drive systems combine to accelerate the BMW i8 from 0 to 62mph in 4.4 seconds – with fuel consumption of 134.5 mpg, and CO2 emissions of 49 g/km. To the P1: By itself, the V8 produces an already astonishing 737PS, but it has been designed to work in conjunction with the electric motor, which gives seamless performance and takes the powertrain’s combined output to a dizzying 916PS. 0-62mph in 2.8 seconds - 34mpg! Chris Wilson
Weight is what's wrong with it, lots of weight, drag and inertia.
Pete
Sorry if this has already been posted somewhere, powertrain details: http://news.epicinter.net/new-toyota-supra-ft-1-powertrain-details-emerge/ I'm not sure the this website has the credentials to give any kind of authority over the authenticity of the rumours it has cobbled together? As much as I'd like to, I don't believe FT1 is anything more than a sports concept to raise the design houses profile. I certainly don't think it has anything to do with the BMW collaboration which may very well be an extension of their I8 project. - - - Updated - - - Weight is what's wrong with it, lots of weight, drag and inertia. You say that about every car produced after 1990.

Thorin
I've heard it's going to use a V15 engine with wind and solar hybrid power torque fill. The head of Toyota told me himself it's true, and it will be out on the 37th of April next year.
Chris Wilson
I believe they will be able to be bought from Curries and some major Tesco outlets, as a convenience to customers too scruffy to be allowed in a normal dealership. That V15 sounds awesome, my mate Allie sent me a sound clip from his phone, he designed it, on a fag packet.
