That_Supra_Guy
So I got the rear subframe off my car without a hitch, whilst starting on the front I noticed there's a subframe which the engine seems to be sitting on. Further back theres a crossmember which is almost like a subframe for the front suspension set up (where the manual recommends we jack them up at the front). I removed the track rods, anti-roll bar and disconnected the wishbone at the top ( bolts into the engine subframe). Can this rear crossmember with all the control arms/brakes etc be dropped out with the motor still in? I'm under the impression the engine's subframe is attached seperately to the car? Can anyone clarify? Cheers!
SPG
The engine is mounted to the alloy cradle which is attached to the subframe, when removing the lower of the two (subframe), the cradle naturally will follow suit as it is mounted to the removed section. So in short bud, the engine will come out with the subframe, unless you suspend the engine with a lift or harness.
SPG
I have a front subframe off at the moment so can send you a pic of the removed frame?
That_Supra_Guy
'Borrowed' this from fleabay, the lower part in the pic, not the cast alloy bit with the cross webbing, so that alloy part of the frame isnt supporting the engine on its own no?
