Dan_Q
Hi All, I'm getting to the point where i'll be loading my UK front calipers with pads soon. Note- this is a track car primarily and I can cope with a bit of noise etc. So my question is- do you need all the shims and clips? From what I can gather, there are 2 shims and a corner clip per pad. Also, does anyone have a clear diagram, or a link to one- the one i've been using isn't the highest of resolution! I have everything in a bag disassembled and if i do fit everything I want to make sure I get it right. In other cars in the past I've just used the plastic / rubber shims supplied with the pads (EBC) and a smear of copper grease with no problems, but just wanted to ask if anyone has experience of trying this with the UK brakes and had problems. I'd assume the same theory would apply to LS400 brakes as they are a similar design. TIA Dan

Dan_Q
and a great diagram it is too- many thanks for that fella, have printed it off and I'll go and have a play in the garage. I think I'm gonna see how it goes with just the stick on shims first though. I think. Not sure. This will help me decide! Thanks again for the help
Swampy442
No probs As for the validity of the shims and clips I couldn't tell you. Im guessing the shims are purely for road comfort, and the corner clips are to either damp movement of the pads in the calliper and/or wear indicators. Rajinder
If it is mostly for track use you do not need wear indicators. I don't use them as I change the pads after every track day.
Dan_Q
cheers for the replies fellas, settles the mind I've thrown them in with just a stick on shim and copper grease- will see how I go. I've left the wear indicators on, as the odd time I have found them rather useful in the past!
