That_Supra_Guy
Jacking up my supra on 4 axle stands, where its sitting for a month or 2 while the subframes are both off.....where's the best place to put the stands without damaging or distorting anything? The trouble is I'm getting mixed vibes on here about using the sill corner jack points, are the 2 big beefy chassis rails under the floor pan further inboard towards the centre fine aswell? I cant seem to get a definitive answer on here for longer term stuff. Would rather gain an insight from fellow winter project goers.... Swampy442
Personally Im using the chassis rails, and just inboard of the rear jacking points theres a pair of flat areas, they're quite substantial.

Just to clarify (people have different thoughts on 'chassis rails' haha), you're referring to the box section rails, not the horrid wafer thin sill rails? suprasurrey
I always place my axle stands under the box section rails that run along the length of the car. If you are using axle stands on a tarmac surface it may be wise to use something to spread the load. My advice comes from personal experience when my axle stands sunk into my tarmac drive

2soops
Mines been on stands in the garage for over a year with no problems, on the chassis rails though not the sills. Funnily enough my old Mk3 sank into a tarmac drive drive too, I put it down to the drive being crap as I also have numerous dents from the trolley jack wheels, maybe that old Mk3 was just really heavy
stevie_b
Tarmac's got quite a bit of "give" to it. Not so with concrete. Remember when you jack the car up and put it on stands, there's a lot of weight spread over a tiny area (the contact points of the axle stands with the ground).
