mk1its
Guys Just fitting my clear front indicators and thought I'd take a look at the intercooler. I don't think I've ever seen one in such bad condition. Your thoughts? I finished fitting the Waldron fuel pump this morning so I am now fully BPU. One of the prerequisites is that your intercooler is in good condition to lower the air temperature. I'm now worried about giving the car some beans once I've setup the evc V........! johnny g
If go with a Chris Wilson or Whifbitz SMIC, if you're staying BPU or small single
mk1its
Is a Fmic not more effective Johnny? Will prob go single at some point....
LOGIE
I have a CW SMIC which I am dying to try out. Do these smics get enough air? I know little about the workings of them. Just FMICs have a bigger surface area which id have thought better cooling. I hope to be proven wrong.
johnny g
Is a Fmic not more effective Johnny? Will prob go single at some point.... I had a Greddy SMIC when I was BPU and it was great. But when I went Big Twins, I had to upgrade to the FMIC. Now, a smaller SMIC core will be perfect for 550-600bhp (Wes has a 590bhp motor running on a CW SMIC). It'll have less lag associated as the pipework is smaller, still looks OEM and works with the stock ducting, so it's very efficient. I think an FMIC for >600bhp will give a bit more lag on a BPU setup, so you might end up buying twice anyways.

The CW SMIC I have was on TLicence's Supra running 600bhp (maybe more)
tony tt
Is a Fmic not more effective Johnny? Will prob go single at some point.... If the plan eventually is to go single turbo 600+ then get a fmic otherwise go uprated smic as it's more efficient for the stock twins and small single turbos as Johnny said you would end up buying twice. Andrew K
I've got a CW smic for my project and can't wait to see how it performs, I'm hoping to be between 500 - 600 bhp. The build quality is excellent as we'll
mk1its
I will have a whifbitz one to sell... When is that mate? Just test drove the car and its fantastic. The grip just isn't there though and the 'slip control' definately helped me out! Roll on the dry weather... I'm running at 100kpa which is about right on stock twins isn't it? Guest pwings18
Good question. For the moment I can't put FMIC in place. Maybe in 2 or 3 months. That's why the best would be to put a OEM one (that I don't have) and sell the whifbitz. I think sell it £250 (I have opened a thread to know how much it is worth).
