Garf88
Guys.. Have a problem with my 2jz gte 6 speed manual 95year. Upon ignition I get no engine management light and the slip control flashes. It will turn over but not start. When I bridge the diagnostic port I get a regular and constant flashing from the engine management light which as far as I have read, means no fault. Mind boggling as to why the engine management light does not come on with ignition like it should do.[sAD] have bypassed the immobiliser to rule it out. Any help would be great. Cheers
Guest suprageek
Is there a strong crank but won't fire up? Maybe the trigger wheel has came off the crank sprocket, happened to my car, look at my old posts in mkiv technical you might find it useful. LOGIE
Id also look at your timing belt. Hopefully it hasn't snapped
Lee P
If you have no ecu light either the light doesn't work or you have no power to the ecu Check the efi fuses in the fuse box under the bonnet first. The light should come on with ignition then go off when started
hogmaw
I had a similar problem recently and it was just a low battery. Try starting with jump leads.
Garf88
no doesn't have strange crank, no splutter or nothing. when light is off it will just crank but just wont fire up. timing belt looks fine, no cuts or splits in it when checked yesterday. Yeah next thing I was going to check is the ecu to see if it is correct power to it. the light sometimes comes on and you can start the car but after a couple minutes or longer will just cut off has done it few times while driving along as well. have also checked for fault code but has a constant flashing when it shows up which correct me if I am wrong means no code stored. SteveC
Have you by any chance recently tried to jump start the car from another battery? If so, was it OK prior to trying to jump start, then after the jump start attempt you had this problem?
TBDevelopments
alarm/immobiliser issue if the engine check light isn't coming on? like lee said ecu not getting power if its not coming on with the ignition key Tim
Garf88
no not been jump started. I have by passed the immobiliser to see if it was that causing issues but still doing same thing when its by passed. Yeah got time later so going to check ecu tonight. Nodalmighty
Well, the ecu is obviously getting power as the engine light works when you bridge TE1 and E1 for codes. If the crank wheel had come off you would get a code 12 (No NE,G1,G2 signal to ecu). I once fixed a MR2 where the AFM had shorted the 5v line and that did the same thing. No MIL unless the diagnostic port was bridged and reported no error. I would check some of the items on the 5v line, tps, track tps, map sensor and maf (if applicable). Lyndon. Garf88
when I bridge te1 and e1 the light doesn't always come on only every now and then. yeah did think that if there was a problem with the crank wheel it would have a fault code read out. Cheers for your input guys becoming a pain now. looking tonight so will see if I find anything.
