natony
I'm currently looking for a v160/v161 gearbox and to be honest I know demand is high so I don't hold out much hope of finding one. So I've started looking further a field and have found a lot being sold in the states, £2700 for the gearbox, £200 port to port shipping and £800 duty and tax. Anyone else ever gone this route ? j_jza80
They come up cheaper than that here. Just hold out a little while, they do come up reasonably regularly.
LOGIE
From what you have just said that will cost you a little under £4k? Have you priced one new from Toyota? Keeping in mind a guarantee and piece of mind of buying new.

LOGIE
Take into account you still have to buy a clutch, and quite a few other bits but they are available.
Chris Wilson
You can buy a complete manual TT car for that sort of money, probably scruffy, but a perfect source of parts.

This, at least you could sell the rest and recoup your money if you are willing to break another car.
natony
Take into account you still have to buy a clutch, and quite a few other bits but they are available. Yeah the boxes from the states come with clutches and clutch lines, considering what a new tt clutch goes for i thought it made this even more of a bargin You can buy a complete manual TT car for that sort of money, probably scruffy, but a perfect source of parts. I have never seen a manual TT priced that low and i looked for ages, in the end i ended up buying a 6 speed rolling shell to build up. you guys know of a secret stash somewhere ?? LOGIE
Ask jm-imports they can do it for you Good call. Jurgen sourced my engine via yahoo auctions and imported it securly in his iso container. Id certainly look into this as it might be a good bit cheaper in Japan.
