Swampy442
Im going to be ordering parts to construct the fuel system on my single Aristo, would it be considered OK to use these fittings :- http://www.speedflowshop.co.uk/push-on-hose-ends-400-series-8-c.asp With this hose, or a rubber braided hose. http://www.speedflowshop.co.uk/aeroquip-startlite-2444-p.asp Or should I just use the standard fittings? http://www.speedflowshop.co.uk/an-hose-ends-100-series-1-c.asp Also, is the thread on the fuel damper hose M14x1.5? Thanks in advance.
Swampy442
Little help?
michel lane
The push on fittings are fine provided you use the correct hose . I suggest staying with a single manufactures product rather then shoping around for different brands and hope they will work . I once used Aeroquip house with mocal push on fitment , @ 3 bar it started to leak !!!, then i changed to aeroquip fitments and it was hard to push on , but had no issues. A tip to push the hose on , put a little soapy water on it to slid it on , dont use WD40 !! . Then use a clip to secure it more . it will work fine . Swampy442
Thats part of my question Michel, would that startlite hose be OK with push on fittings?
Slutters
Thats part of my question Michel, would that startlite hose be OK with push on fittings? I would stick with Aeroquip, at least you know they have met a very high standard. That was all I used for both fuel and oil:
Chris Wilson
Just ring Faye and ask her. Speedflow is just as good as Earls or Aeroquip, IMO. Personally I would ONLY use compression fittings on HP fuel systems.
Swampy442
Thats all I needed to know Chris, thanks. Also do you know if the fuel damper thread is M14x1.5?
Chris Wilson
Not sure to be honest. Sounds very likely though. If you are getting into this sort of stuff you need a metric thread gauge (and an Imperial one), plus a cheap electronic readout dial caliper. Ebay will have gauges at less than a fiver a set, and dial calipers at less than £20. Then you can be sure what pretty much ANY thread, nut or bolt is. Faye, (despite being a woman....), really knows her stuff and is a competent semi pro drag racer. She's also trustworthy enough for me to give her my bank card details and just send what she thinks I will need for a job sheet.. Metric and Whitworth: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WHITWORTH-METRIC-THREAD-PITCH-GAUGE-/190996781397?pt=UK_Measuring_Tools_Levels&hash=item2c784b9955 Metric / Whitworth / Imperial combi sets: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RDG-2PC-SCREW-PITCH-THREAD-GAUGES-BSW-METRIC-UNF-UNC-/350538502326?pt=UK_Measuring_Tools_Levels&hash=item519db910b6 Electronic readout combi metric / Imperial dial caliper: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-Inch-Digital-LCD-Vernier-Dial-Depth-Caliper-Tool-Micro-Meter-Gauge-Retail-Box-/261230393816?pt=UK_Measuring_Tools_Levels&hash=item3cd28b79d8 I tend to buy cheap dial calipers and use them for sanity checks, and use proper micrometers with current calibration for accurate work, and keep them in a clean and dry atmosphere. Happy New Year. Glad to see the back of 2013, it's been a nightmare...
