Mugello
Im currently in talks with CCW's in the USA and i am trying to nail down an estimate on the taxes and duties that i will pay for the wheels to reach me here in the UK. I have done some research and found this handy calculator. I will post the link as it maybe be of some use to others http://www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation/ This calculator puts the import taxes and duties for wheels at 4.5% + VAT at 20% Notes on duty & taxes rates Wheels has an import duty rate of 4.5% and VAT rate of 20%. Importation of this product may be prohibited. Can anyone confirm this is correct, or at least sounds correct ? It means I will pay £500 sterlin alone just to get my wheels across the border Thanks, Moo.
fastcar
Yep sounds about right the goverment does like to sit on there backside and do nothing but rob from the poor and give to the rich. Anyways rant over yep that looks right:)
Mugello
It could be worse (more than 24.5%) i guess... Still not 'great' though
fastcar
Could be worse. If you import a car the import duty is 10% and the 20% VAT. It's just a rip off

James
You get taxed on the declared value dont you ??? Correct. You're also only insured to the declared value, which I always think offsets it (pardon the pun) enough.
dude
Depends on how its shipped ie the value can be the correct value but they can be display items etc you havent paid for yet they are still insured;) In 30 years of buying stuff mainly from the US I have never ever lost one thing, pay for em by paypal and they are also insured or credit card !!! Or just stop whinging and pay the duty:p Everyone wants go heaven but no one wanna die !!!!
Thomas_germany
Don't you have US military bases in UK? We do in germany. If you know somebody, who lives there, they can order the wheels for you. They don't pay the import taxes and duties, b/c the military base is part of the US. Works in germany. Al Massey
Just be careful how they label the packages. Suprasteveo got 4 wheels from the states but they put the whole value on each wheel as it was a set and customs tried charging him nearly a grand. Took a few weeks for him to sort it with customs
Chris Wilson
Wait until you have independence up there, that nice Mr. Salmond will see you all OK on import duty A customer of mine ordered bespoke CCW rims for his Soarer and he was horrified to see them come with hub adaptor rings, rather than be drilled to suit the hub spigot diameter of his car, a Soarer, so same as a MKIV Supra. At the sort of money they are one would expect more than Mickey Mouse engineering to get them to fit.
