Josh
£3750 for one a bit less for 3 or more + shipping which I think I paid $500 to have mine flown (surface is cheaper) the value on it is up to you for the everything else. - - - Updated - - - If we had 5 coming say shipping would prob work out quite cheap because it would be one big heavy box going surface !!!! That seems like a really good price for people with broken gearboxes. Out of interest, for a broken V160/161, is it normally worth fixing them with the problems you've seen them have, or is it not cost effective to repair? dude
If its just a syncro and one gear which it normally is then yes.
adam1983
How much roughly is a rebuild of a box with syncro and one gear? Be interesting to see how much is actually in it price wise.

j_jza80
Not particularly relevant to this thread, but I've just been reading up on the Getrag type 233 gearboxes, or the V160 / V160 as we know them. It is a 480nm (torque) rated gearbox, and it was designed for the Supra. It is also found in the R34 Skyline GTR - this is a type of Getrag 233, but is different to the V160 / v161. Interestingly (or not? ) ,Getrag made some even tougher 6 speed, RWD gearboxes at the same time, known as the Type 286 and 420G. The 286 was designed for use in the BMW 8 Series, but was also found in the Lister Storm, and is rated at 560NM. The 420G was found in various models, including the E39 M5, and is rated at 499NM. Given the almost holy status the Supra Getrag boxes have attained, I was surprised to read that it wasn't even the second most durable gearbox Getrag were producing at the time! Swampy442
The thread got over run so I didn't bother pursuing it, if, of course, you're referring to me.
