Swampy442
Whats the going rate for brand new V161s and R154s with the remote shifters? Just a box with shifter, no conversion parts.

thetrashcanman
Plus shipping, plus taxes, hmmm I'm sure someone at titan would be nice enough to lower the price on the box I'm thinking of doing this route myself if I get an auto next year, as good 6 speeds are becoming harder and harder to find. Swampy442
I have an opportunity to get my hands on some brand new V161s and remote shift R154s, but obviously I need to know if its going to be 'worthwhile' as its obviously a major financial outlay
TheTurtleshead
9k from Toyota UK now. I suspect those yank prices are outdated as well.
Swampy442
Question is, how many people have paid 9 grand for a new box, not many Ill bet. Those who have bought brand new V161s, how much did you pay all in?
hogmaw
After 10 years of my auto I am thinking of this too, best get some $$$ put aside, but a group buy might be a good idea http://www.suprastore.com/tosuge6sptrn.html
Fitz
Mmmm V161

Al Massey
After 10 years of my auto I am thinking of this too, best get some $$$ put aside, but a group buy might be a good idea http://www.suprastore.com/tosuge6sptrn.html That's still 4K before shipping though
j_jza80
That price is insane... Why? They're a very good, very tough gearbox.
Swampy442
So if you could get a V161 for 5 grand new in the box, would that be attractive?
j_jza80
So if you could get a V161 for 5 grand new in the box, would that be attractive? It depends on the circumstances. £5k for a brand new gearbox that has been proven to cope with huge amounts of torque is an attractive prospect. Unfortunately, the cars they're destined for aren't worth that much. For many, it would be worth buying a cheap tt6, and breaking it, selling everything other than the gearbox. If I were building a car like Infernos, I wouldn't hesitate to spend £5k on a brand new V161 if it were needed.
Fitz
Also depends on how impatient someone is. If someone has ~£3.5K for a 6 speed conversion but can't get one through the usual sources they may acquire extra cash whilst waiting and think "f#ck it, why not pay an extra £1.5K and get a new one"
Fitz
Assuming its £5K
dude
And where will you get the remaining parts????
Alex
And where will you get the remaining parts???? Why does it matter? OP isn't offering the rest. People have broken existing V160/61 boxes...they wouldn't need extra parts..
dude
Why does it matter? OP isn't offering the rest. People have broken existing V160/61 boxes...they wouldn't need extra parts.. You are aware that you can buy every part to repair a gearbox?? also your going to be looking at paying more than from Titan (who only do V160's BTW) Im pretty sure I could negotiate a better deal especially if there were more than 1 , shipping is not that much and duty is paid on the valuation placed on the package. Also Im pretty sure 99.9% of members looking at this are viewing with a mind to doing a 6 speed conversion!!!
adam1983
I would be interested to know what price you could get the gearbox for brand new
Swampy442
And where will you get the remaining parts???? As in conversion parts?
Big Supes
I'd be interested in a group buy....
dude
£3750 for one a bit less for 3 or more + shipping which I think I paid $500 to have mine flown (surface is cheaper) the value on it is up to you for the everything else. - - - Updated - - - If we had 5 coming say shipping would prob work out quite cheap because it would be one big heavy box going surface !!!!
