Fizzy T
I have a mobile welder arriving tomorrow, he's going to remove a section of the radiator support panel and replace it with a panel I got off Keron. Took about 3 hours in total which wasn't too bad really considering most of it was spent trying to unplug the damn headlights As you'll see in the pictures I've removed the headlights, front bumper, radiator, intercooler pipework, airbox, active spoiler and some of the under trays so the guy has complete access to where he needs to cut. Quite a bit of rust here as you can see I then realised that where the guy might need to cut will probably be near the intercooler/side under tray panels so thought I might as well remove it all. Hopefully I won't have to touch the power steering cooler pipes *heavily corroded too* or the oil cooler/bracket as that will be a right pain. If I have time tomorrow after he's done and on tuesday I'll have a go at fitting my SRD front mounted intercooler so I don't have to refit the old SMIC. Oh and the mobile welder has quoted £80 all in including any materials to do the job, I hope it's a neat job.
Kaan W
£80 for 2 welds I done this myself mate have a look in the first page of my project thread. Pretty simple to do, seems a common place for corrosion to start on these cars.
Fizzy T
A local garage said they would charge £50 for the job but that wasn't including stripping the car down so I would of had to of done that myself outside their workshop. I just want it done so thought £80 wasn't that bad lol I can actually weld, not the greatest I'll admit but I can. I just don't have a welder at this present time. Fizzy T
Very true haha, I bought that panel off Keron nearly 6 months ago so thought it was about time I got it sorted. I have been putting off fitting the FMIC till I got the rust sorted as there's no point in spending ages taking the car apart twice.
Dnk
I'd be replacing the ps pipes as well if they're that bad.
Fizzy T
The PS pipes get replaced as part of the SRD FMIC kit I do believe.
