Andrew K
I`m currently trying to tidy up my engine loom for a build i`m doing, Question is what do people do with the spare / unwanted plugs when going single turbo? is it as easy as just cutting them off and taping them up neatly or will doing this cause problems once everything is plugged back into the car and the ECU starts having a problem due to the plugs that have been removed and the wires just left! Also my loom is from an Auto and i`m fitting a 6spd V161 box and i know you have to modify (i think) one of the loom plugs that go to the box (largest plug i think) whats the correct thing to do with that plug / unwanted wires and is there any other mod needed doing to the loom as its now for a manual? On the waste gate solenoid that came with my kit the wires have been cut! so where do the to black wires have to go to as probably will need extending? and if the solenoid isnt any good where do you get these exact ones from in case i need one? TheTurtleshead
Wire the solenoid up to the stock TT boost solenoid plug wires on the loom. Wires can go either way around, so you can solder with reckless abandon. You can cut the plugs, but I'd just tuck them out of the way neatly, incase you ever need them. Gearbox loom: The two black and white(I think!) wires, that are on the large grey plug, must be joined together. They are the two larger wires that are raised from the rest, so easy to locate. This is to overcome the neutral safety switch. (Not sure if needed when running a syvecs!) The reverse switch must be wired up to the plain red and yellow wires that are also on this plug, either way around is fine. Darren_Whifbitz
The sequential plugs that come from the coil pack loom can be chopped back just insulate ends, you can also do the front vsv I plugs if you want or just hide them behind alternator. Won't effect running of car Auto loom plugs : the largest connector - take the 2 thickest wires next to each other , think they are black and black/white and join them together. That will sort out starting car. Speedo plug is the same , reverse switch is another 2 wires on big plug can't recall colors there written down at work soz Solenoid wires will go to ecu or boost controller or if using Syvecs you can use blue plug on front vsv for that . You can use pretty much any decent solenoid valve Ryan likes using the Bosch ones with the Syvecs
Andrew K
Thanks guys, I am using a Syvecs so is that the best way to wire the solenoid into the blue VSV plug in the loom? Is that the only plug that is blue so I get the correct one as not sure what plug was what now! That helps a bit with the wiring regarding the gearbox and knowing what to do with the loom plugs, don't suppose you have any pics to check what I'm doing against?
