Kendo11
I'm going on an expensive trip to Norway at the end of this month so I've decided that February will not see me spending any money or time on the car. What I have done this weekend is go over it and make up a revised and hopefully final list (for this year anyway) of jobs I want to get done before the summer show season. *Fit sideskirts I got from driftbear *Get rear hockey sticks *Get rear diffusers centre and sides *Get clear side indicators and rear markers *Swap BN sports front for stock *Change bootlid for stock + TRD spoiler *Get whifbitz carbon plate pods *Get rear arches repainted *Get new headlights (undecided) *Change wheels for meister reps *Get new front seats *Finish rear seat delete and storage space project I'm planning *Get carpet dyed black *Respray dash + get dash rings etc *Windscreen needs replacing + all seals (doors etc) *Replace all speakers and stereo *Tidy and respray engine bay *Get lowering springs *Replace clutch, like for like oem or stage 2 Obviously I'm setting myself up for a lot of work which I'm aiming to get done in March, April and May. Hopefully with the weather getting better and the nights getting longer I'll be able to get it all done. Also making progress in the hunt for a stock bootlid and TRD spoiler. Still to do: *Get rear diffusers centre and sides *Get whifbitz carbon plate pods *Get rear arches repainted *Get new headlights (undecided) *Change wheels *Get new front seats *Finish rear seat delete and storage space project I'm planning *Get carpet dyed black *Respray dash + get dash rings etc *Windscreen needs replacing + all seals (doors etc) *Replace all speakers and stereo *Tidy and respray engine bay *Get lowering springs *Replace clutch, like for like oem or stage
Kendo11
Some picture updates after a little bit of work. Firstly, this is a GRAMS replica Ridox front. I ordered this before the debacle about them illegally using pictures to sell items, and before a lot of reports of bad fitment and quality. This is a completely separate issue to the picture issue and is not reflective of my opinions on that matter. I did have my heart in my mouth to be honest whilst waiting for it to arrive, but it came the other day and I did a very light test fit, not properly mounted, and to be honest I'm happy. For £175 and considering the quality of some other replicas out there I'm happy so far, just need to get it properly fitted after spraying, sits a little wide here but it is not fitted at all, just sat on the centre bar piece. Also got some crystal indicators to replace my old original ones that I had tinted, much prefer the look of these. I also rebuilt both rear calipers as the seals had gone, very fiddly job to do but there is a great guide on this forum how to do it, just need to get them bled and serviced and that will be another job crossed off the list. This is how it sits at the moment, a little sorry for itself to be honest but it'll get there! Interior is also removed ready for carpet dying next weekend. Doing a build like this on the side of the road is interesting to say the least, but I must and will keep going! Cheers
Kendo11
So today I had a local valet and upholstery guy come round to do my carpet. The old grey one was horrid and certainly at the end of it's life, and obviously with new ones being stupid money this was the best option. It will last the life of the car, and is a very dark grey. I didn't want to go completely black. Also took the opportunity with the seats out to paint the bolt surrounds black too. Also got some good news recently, I'm moving house and will have a driveway wahey! No more roadside car building. Before: Done, just needs to dry and then a gentle brush: Surrounds: Also got my Blitz (replica) side skirts recently, just need to decide whether to cut the front bit down or not: Thanks. ripped_fear
Good work on the carpet, looks much better. really lifts the interior doesnt it. Like the skirts too personally I would trim the front so it fits like the OEM skirts. Question: are you fitting spats? Considering the route you are taking I think it would suit a set. Kendo11
Thanks mate, it's made such a massive improvement to the interior, lots to do still but happy so far with how it's moving along. Totally agree on the skirts, spats I'm not sure. At the moment it's a no but will see, I'll leave that to the very end to decide.

Kendo11
Good choice on the bumper mate ridox is a great looking bumper. Are you sticking with the colour? Carpet looks good too Thanks mate, I see the ridox as the most oem looking one after oem, if that makes sense. Yes all parts will be the standard 199, got a few colour ideas for a respray but financially I'm a very long way off.
Kendo11
Couple of very small updates although no pictures just yet. I'm changing from the Blitz sideskirts to Ridox ones now, which should arrive on Friday. I've also ordered some metallic reflective paint for the engine bay to get rid of the overstated red on the throttle body etc, and I'm waiting on Boostjunkies to let me know how much a grey hose set will be. Also recently had some general important maintenance work done - new distributor cap, oil change and new filter thanks to Swampy, coolant flush and change with compression test, and the new discs and refurbished calipers were given the seal of approval via a brake test by a local specialist. So it is in effect fully running again now after laying dormant for so long, and it's just the very long list of aesthetics to work on. Getting there! Kendo11
Few big updates from the past couple of weeks. First up as mentioned above I had to change from the Blitz sideskirts to Ridox style ones. These came from the infamous G.R.A.M.S styling. Regardless of the discussions elsewhere on the forum about their business practices, the products I've received off them have been absolutely brilliant, sideskirts needed absolutely no modifications whatsoever and all screw holes were pre-marked. Compared to a lot of other sellers on eBay etc these were very good. Not a sales pitch by the way. Will obviously need a little filing down here and there as with most aftermarket bits, but I'm very happy. So, test fitted and awaiting a date for painting; Next up I went around the engine bay changing the little red fasteners I got ages ago for black and silver ones, also received my new oil cap from Callaway; Then the biggest change recently was to get rid of the old and in your face 90s style red that I thought was nice a year ago, and make it all look a bit more up to date and classy. Before as above, and after: Just need to get a few more hoses sorted out (black), give the whole thing another polish, and the bay will be almost done. For anyone wanting hoses by the way (vac etc) conceptua tuning have been brilliant for me, £29 gets you three different sizes and connectors and stuff, and a couple of little sweets That's all for now, few decisions to make regarding wheels, spoiler and interior but it's coming along nicely. Kendo11
So then, I've now moved house and can start messing with the car again. Trial rear is on the way which I'll be fitting next weekend, and then the following weekend I'll hopefully be getting some painting done. Windscreen has developed almost a full length crack so that's going to eat my finances a little this month, but I'll at least be heading in the right direction again! Pictures to come as work progresses.....
Kendo11
So then, big job out of the way today. Got a Trial Rear bumper from Delboy a few days ago, pre-fitted which is what I wanted so I didn't have to make any major adjustments. Obviously the colour needs doing as per several other parts on the car. Wanted one of these for ages and I'm very happy now I've got one finally! Lots of screw and fixings to remove on the old bumper but it's very straightforward, there is also a good guide on here for it too. So mid fitting the Trial: Remembering the all important DIY bracket underneath so as to avoid it 'parachuting' and ripping off: Done: I'll have to visit an exhaust specialist in the coming weeks to sort the backbox out though, even after cutting away a little of the underside of the diffuser the exhaust is not at a good angle, so I'll get that sorted soon enough:
Kendo11
Lastly for this weekend I managed to blag a couple of reasonably priced OEM badges from eBay which will go on once I get the respray/wrapping/dipping of the car sorted: Also got a nice little chromed brake reservoir cover to add to the silver look going on in the engine bay: That's it for today, took me all day pretty much to get the Trial fitted as it's a bloody big fiddly thing. More tomorrow hopefully. Edited May 30, 2015 by Kendo11 title (see edit history)
