Kendo11
Got a decent bit done today after the weather sorted itself out. Fitted the face-lift seats I got from Harley a few weeks ago as well as some new belts I got from elsewhere. Forgot how much of a pain it was doing the belts, stripping the interior panels out and so on but I got it done. Will get the interior valeted at some point but very very happy with these. Thinking long term investment these are definitely a much better option than the RX8 seats. Just need to give them a good clean after them being bundled into the car for a few weeks. Kendo11
After the seats, I continued with sorting out the crap job I made of painting the engine parts. I used the same textured stuff as per recent posts. I have had to remove everything as I have an aftermarket manifold to fit at some point, so the perfect opportunity to sort out the paintwork. Very happy, really like this stuff!
Kendo11
Lastly for today, I got some new heater control parts to fit. These new metal parts and the clock really bring it bang up to date. Credit to j_jza for suggesting the clock type. Will look better once in place in the car. I have a few more bits to come back from being flocked and then the interior is 95% done. Parm_93
I can see why you need so many gaskets now, constantly ripping the engine bay apart lol. Looks so much better than the previous attempt .

Looks so much better than the previous attempt . Haha - I've bought more gaskets off you than I ever have a main dealer! That finish is looking miles better dude Thanks chaps. Kendo11
So I followed advice and removed the cam covers to give them a lick of paint, very grateful for the advice as they look so much better now. Following the understated theme (it is an NA after all) I have gone for a satin/matte black. VHT paint used obviously. Removed the covers and the central spark plug piece, gave them all a tidy up and a paint and I'm much happier now. First coats prior to being rubbed down: When the throttle body gasket arrives from Parm I'll fit that and get another shot of it all back together, I've done away with the thermal gasket. I knew it was snake oil in terms of performance gains but my main issue is that I didn't like how it fitted. So that's in the bin. Once everything is back together it'll need a clean to remove my grubby fingerprints.
Kendo11
Also today I visited Keron and collected a caliper carrier as mine was knackered, first time I've been there and was impressed with the amount of parts he had - and the wide body Supra in the garage. Absolute beast. A little set back though in terms of fitting the manifold, I need to cut the existing bolts off but unfortunately can't get the car high enough without it being unsafe, so I'll leave it in the cupboard and come back to it later on, and probably get a garage to do it. Some interior parts should be getting back from being flocked tomorrow so it'll hopefully be clean, dry jobs all day.
Kendo11
Got the TB gasket from Parm today (thanks again) so got the rest of the engine parts fitted. Pretty much all back together now, just awaiting a replacement oil cap from Callaway. Once that's here I've got to get some new battery terminals, and change the silicone hoses to black ones. Difference between super amazing thermal gasket and stock one: Back together:
Kendo11
I might one day try to do something with the distributor and a few other bits and bobs, it is still all a little messy for my liking but more than happy with it for now.

Kendo11
Is looking good, id be worried about bits you left open during the winter, the wiper arm bolts look rusted shot? Good spot - I've been slightly worried by them myself. I'm going to get some rust remover and cover them in it overnight and see what happens. evinX
Not a good idea. As the metal rusts, it blows. Basically getting bigger. The converter will only turn the metal black, wont get rid of the blown rust. Best thing is wire brush it taking care of the threads. Bit of masking tape over winter would of looked after it. It's a slightly different product to that, I've used the stuff that turns rust black on other parts. This stuff lifts the rust off, can't remember the name of it now but I've used it on some nuts and bolts and it's bloody awesome. Good thinking on the wire brush though, didn't think of that. I'll definitely give that a go first.
ripped_fear
Looks great mate, much better. Now to do the air box pipe work. As you have an induction kit anyway have you thought about going full hard pipe? Think adding some stainless to that would set it off nicely. I've definitely given it some thought mate, I have some stainless tubing of the right size so might give it a go.
Kendo11
Couple of jobs done today, not a lot as I've come down with a serious disease this weekend (man flu). Got some bonnet struts from eBay, thanks to those that pointed me in the direction of these. By a long way these are the best thing I've EVER done on the car! Hugely recommend this if no one has done it. Cost about £42 and worth every penny. Next up I got a fuse box lid from Keron as I broke mine, painted in the same 'worn iron' as much of the rest of the engine bay. Last I got the rust removed from the wiper mechanism bolts, used a wire brush as evinX suggested. I also gave the wiper arms and scuttle panel a fresh lick of paint. Need to get some new wiper blades and the rubber trim section for the scuttle panel and I'll get them refitted. There's a bit of corrosion under there so I'll get that resolved over the next week too.

supra_ufo
Those bonnet struts are epic, beats accidently knocking the bonnet stay and dropping the bonnet on you
Kendo11
Those bonnet struts are epic, beats accidently knocking the bonnet stay and dropping the bonnet on you Big time mate. Love them. Good few jobs done yesterday whilst the weather was good. TRD style strut brace fitted, doesn't need painting as it sits nicely with the colour scheme as it is: Windscreen scuttle panel painted and fitted, same with the wiper arms. Done in a hammered effect paint for a little bit of texture on the arms: Whifbitz idler pulley (courtesy of Parm) fitted and the old, worn one replaced:
