Dont discount the auto's as they are very responsive to drive and have a manual mode for more spirited driving. I had an MG ZR 160 I too had never driven a RWD car before but as long as you treat it with the respect it deserves it will make you a better driver and you'll have way more fun, I now have a Black UK spec TT6 and I don't regret it one bit. Still miss my ZR though it was insane to drive Take your time when you see the right one you'll know, this a great club with some awesome members and enjoy your stay.
