viran
Hi can anyone help with this problem I have recently changed my lower arm wish bones because all the bolts on my old ones were ceased up and couldn't get the geometry sorted I have put a second hand pair on which came with all the bolts and fitted on easy after the old ones were taken off Since I changed them I am having some issues where when I turn the wheel at slow driving speeds either direction I hear a horrid clanking noise I have been told that its because the big bushes are very old and the weight of the car is building up and the sound is the tension being released I just want to know weather I need to buy new pair of lower arm wishbones because the bushes on the arm cannot be bought new separately or if there could be another problem PLEASE HELP THANKS
Iky
Did you torque the bolts up correctly? Did you check for play in the balljoints? Best way to check for play is get a friend to lever under the tyre whilst you keep an eye on the balljoint. The cam adjusters on the front lower arms need torquing up to 226nm which is a fair amount. you can get polyurethane replacement bushes but the best option would be new oem arms costing in the region of £200 each. If the arms have done high miles, the balljoints could be shot. Edited November 22, 2013 by Iky (see edit history)
