T14PPA
Hi ive noticed a weird problem with my car at higher speeds. Steering shakes for a couple seconds and then goes smooth and the shakes again. Its not wheel balance as it goes perfect every few seconds. Anyone had same problem? mellonman
maybe a wheel bearing?
SupraLEDrears
Or check your bushes to see if they are worn. My back did it and turned out to be a worn bush in the lower control arm.
Guest suprageek
Are the rear tyres the same brand?
T14PPA
Ill check it all. Tyres are same all round. What confused me was the way it happens for literally 3 seconds and then stops for 3 seconds Thanks for your advice
Guest suprageek
Mine done the same but the problem was one Of the back tyres was a michelin pilot sport and one was a sport 3, I changed 1 of them to match the other and he problem was solved! Swampy442
Sounds like a harmonic vibration as it goes in and out of sync. How do you know its not balance? Id certainly check that first, followed by an out of shape tyre/bent rim.

I have had this problem when going round shallow bends at speed, i get a shake on the steering that stays there until the next bend. if the bend is long enough it comes and goes. Havard
Could be play in the steering where the shaft connects to the rack.
