mac79
I have just had my exhaust fitted with a single pipe from the first cat back. It sounds great but i feel down on performance. I seem to have to push the car hard to get it to boost, the gauge is reading right so do i need to fit a more free flowing air filter and give the ecu a reset? I also fitted a HKS SSQV but the gauge is reading -0.8 at tick over and 0.8 on boost so i dont think there is any leaks with that. Josh
Since putting the second decat and restrictor ring back in, I've noticed it starts making positive boost at higher revs and under higher load than with just the second cat in. Maybe it doesn't, but it does seem to have made a difference. Maybe due to the difference in the restriction between the second cat and when the restrictor ring is fitted with the decat. To add, I'm also running a Nur Spec R
mac79
When it was first done the revs were more responsive and it did feel quicker. So maybe get a restrictor ring fitted?
Josh
When it was first done the revs were more responsive and it did feel quicker. So maybe get a restrictor ring fitted? Are you still running both cats? If the boost is staying at 0.8bar, then there shouldn't really be any change AFAIK. You'll only need the restrictor ring if you remove both cats. mac79
I have left the first cat in. The pipe is 3" back from that to the backbox.
Josh
I have left the first cat in. The pipe is 3" back from that to the backbox. That's the most restrictive one, so it shouldn't really have made a difference changing the exhaust. You'll need someone more knowledgable than me now, as it may be to do with the BOV. TBDevelopments
reset the ecu and take it for a drive, see if you get any improvement. Had this a few times with the Mr2's and the ecu's not liking the sudden change in the way the engine breaths. Goes against all logic or how it should work. But lets the ecu go back to its basics without any knock correction its had over the years and learns from a fresh Worth a try. Tim
Pipedreams
Maybe it´s just the lower back dyno foolin you With a free flowing exhaust you will build boost earlier and get a smoother powerband without a real kick in the back but you are moving faster earlier. Tim Do you think its worth dropping a blitz panel filter in as well before giving the reset? We need to go out for a run at some point as well! That does make sense it might just be that.
