j_jza80
Considering how popular the T51R turbo is in its various guises, I find it surprising how few cars we have on the forum with one fitted. I can only think of Andrews Top Secret final evolution car, although I know there's a least one more. Are there any more club members with this setup? I'd be tempted by it for the noise alone
SPG
I am pretty sure AshBHP (Garage 786) is running a T51R KAI
James
Scoobyslayer used to have one as well before he broke his car. I'm not sure who he sold the kit to? I'd love to try one out! The T88 is certainly fun, but the T51 sounds immense like you say!
JamieP
There has been a fair few over the years, popularity is no different than any other single turbo really, there is not many of any one turbo. I love HKS stuff but for supras they have not bought anything new out in years, shame really as it's still a huge market.
bignum
I had a ride in ash`s t51 a few years ago, boy it sounded the nuts,,laggy though iirc.
JamieP
T51 KAI is is 70mm so not to bad for lag, it's the T51 SPL that's the laggy one, old design and 76mm.
Swampy442
PJ has one on his 6 speed Aristo as well.
j_jza80
There has been a fair few over the years, popularity is no different than any other single turbo really I should have been clearer, but I was referring to how often T51R cars are for sale in Japan. There often seems to be around half a dozen for sale at any given time. One of these, plus a Boostlogic exhaust would probably make the most incredible noise possible on a Supra... unless someone fancies twin charging one with a twin screw supercharger
Guest bigggie25
thats a good one:)
Sukhy
Isn't one of guises a ball bearing type on these? I was considering this turbo too but the lag issue is kind of putting me off. I would be interested to see at what RPM the 70mm T51R is at full boost.
j_jza80
Yeah, the KAI is ball bearing, the SPL is the regular journal type.
SupraAyf
I can only think of Andrews Top Secret final evolution car, .....................and that's the only one you need to think about good mate You can close the thread now. SupraAyf
I'd be tempted by it for the noise alone Do you fancy one with a gold shell surrounding it. I have a car that sits on the ramps doing nothing and with no plans to use it any time soon - very sad!!
