Noz
I'm finally off for my first drag and drift day at a strip not too far from me. Was wondering if anyone had any tips for the run? I'm taking some 17" MT radials with me. Apart from that, it's just the LSD and a w58 build from chewed crayons to give me hope! I usually pull off with the standard 4k limit on slip. I've nailed a few AWD scoobaroo's like that so will be using the same method. Any other advice?
Littler
Make sure you get a good amount of heat in the MT's (through a burnout) otherwise they just won't work as well
Graham1984
Not being a massive expert in this field my only advice is to do the opposite to whoever this chap is. [video=youtube;-Lmm2swivqE]

Indeed, skip to 34 seconds to see Abz flawlessly demonstrate another slow launch.... a good recover......... ohhh.
Noz
Advice isn't helping mong! good luck with it mate , as said a nice burn out helps alot, and slipping the clutch not dumping , drop the psi in the drag wheels something like 20 psi for drag wheels most important of all have fun Ok dude I'll do this prior to leaving. I suppose the drop in psi allows for tyre deformation aiding traction. Cheers dude!
Chris Bailey
Warm the Mickey Thompsons up with a burnout, If you have a line lock fitted that helps. Mickey Thompson have a guide of tyre pressures somewhere on the internet .

Rich.2211
Good luck mate! My W58 survived a couple of runs at Santapod recently although my launches were pretty awful (2.3 60ft).
Noz
Cheers guy. I'm hoping for some nice numbers but being such a linear power curve I'm really unsure how it's going to cope down the run! I'm hoping the w58 survives the whole event really dude! It's cheap for runs all day so it might get a proper hammering
Noz
"P275 and smaller sizes: 14-18 psi" I'll go with 16psi and see how I get on!

TheTurtleshead
Here's my top tip: Drag racing is boring. If you want to drive on a track, book a day on one with some corners!
JamieP
Don't listen to James, Drag racing is awesome. if I was rich, I'd do it every day of my life!

You own a car that was developed to smash the 911 around the Nurburgring and you speak such blasphemy!?!? Time to buy a Yank tank Mr. P. JamieP
I like cars that are good at everything, but if I had the money I'd had a car for every job
TheTurtleshead
Lol! That's the dream. Wouldn't have a drag car though. I'm a man for whom fun has to last more than 10 seconds at a time! 20 seconds to be precise! Noz
Well I think types of racing are like types of women. Need to try different ones to know which one you really like
Noz
Had an awesome day. Ran 13.46 with 100 terminal. Had a few higher terminals but that was my best ET. Had traction problems with weather and my evangelical causing a misfire I pulled out on a few runs. Right pain kinda started ruined the runs just as I was getting better. Thanks for advice guys. Ran tyres at 20psi. Another w58 hammering with no issues..... yet!
JamieP
Terminal speed is low mate, you are only 10mph up on a stock NA, I remember gaz and jay both being around 120mph with there Na-T's Get that boost up. Edit... Look at post 11 from the old drag racing thread, they was both on xs power kits. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?29073-SUPRA-DRAG-racing-times Edited November 16, 2013 by JamieP (see edit history)
mellonman
Having a terminal speed of 120 mph would put them very close to 500 bhp, with them calculator things but a 100 mph terminal puts it down to about 300 bhp, Great time though
Rich.2211
Good time but definitely more a fair but more in her mate I'm running the same kit too but with less boost (7.5psi) and lowered compression. What were your 60 foot times?
Noz
I need to get a different waste gate. My boost isn't instant it's rpm related sadly. Which means I don't get full boost till its time to change gear. Need to address the dump curve with waste gate and boost controller setup.
