mk1its
Guys Will this work in a 5sp? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-SUPRA-JZA80-MK4-2JZGTE-6-SPEED-SHORT-SHIFTER-QUICK-SHIFT-1992-2002-/230860110111?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ASupra&hash=item35c055b91f
Josh42
There is a listing for a 5 spd variant on eBay too so I'd imagine not. Also, I would imagine mating this up with a w58 behind a GTE lump would be a quick way of mashing the box:(

supra joe
What do you mean Josh? He means the 5 speed will not hold the power for long before it goes bang. If anything you would be better suited with an R154.

Hmm OK, well it is short term. With all the tunnel work etc it shouldn't be too hard to move to another box. The R154 is from a MKIII isn't it? Whats the 6sp box from a MKIV called? Getrag? Will set you back a few grand for a second hand one but the internals have been known to handle stupid power. There's a few on here that have ran the 5 speed W58 and are still running it, harsh gear changes and dropping down gears harshly will kill it. Yes the R154 is from a MK3. pedrosixfour
The R154 gearbox best suited to fitting to a MKIV Supra is to be found in late model Soarers & Chasers. The reasons being the gearbox will come with the correct bell-housing, gearstick cradle, speed sensor and, in the case of a R154 taken from a Soarer, front section of prop shaft.
