Josh42
I've been thinking for a while now that my current car isn't the right one for me and I've caught myself looking at others more and more... So here goes... My NA-T build is now fast progressing and getting to the point of big £££££... Before I spend this, I'd just like a reality check as to whether I should build this car or find another to build. Truth is, I just don't use the aero top roof, it's not for me with its wobbly nature and I'd like a car with ABS(before sticking circa 400bhp through it) It's already come a long way since buying it, but I'm just wondering if it's worth finding myself a hardtop NA manual(preferably a SZ-R-prefacelift/facelift). Spec for my car is as follows: '93 Toyota Supra SZ-R Aerotop 140,000km 6 months Tax 12 months MOT-No Advisories Full dealer history until 2011-from then I self serviced with receipts and photos to prove 2 previous owners Imported in 2001 Engine: 2JZ-GE 3.0 24v Genuine TRD Panel Filter TRD style Exhaust NGK BKR-6E11Plugs (1000 miles) New OEM dizzy cap Oil and filter changes every 5k miles Cambelt changed 20,000km ago Clifford Concept 300 Thatcham Cat1 alarm and immobiliser Transmission: W58 5spd Gearbox OEM clutch A01B TorSen LSD All fluids changed 2k ago Brakes: Refurbed Jspec calipers OEM front discs with Mintex M1144 fast road pads Mtec Drilled and grooved rear discs with Mintex M1144 fast road pads Fluid changed recently (dot4) Suspension: KYB Gas-A-Just Shocks Tein S-Tech Lowering Springs New OEM Rear Drop Links (1000 miles) Wheels and Tyres: Front-Rota Torque Drifts 9.5J ET30 Falken FK452 235/40/18 Rear-Rota Torque Drifts 9.5J ET30 Falken FK452 255/35/18 Body: Full respray in Toyota 3L2 Renaissance Red June 2013 Refurbed Jspec Headlights with black inserts Facelift front indicators Facelift side repeaters Sure there's stuff I've missed off. Here's a link to my project too...it's got all the photos from start to finish on there... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=284086 But let me know what you think. Homer
Wobble wobble wobble!! Exactly, no amount of work can replace a proper hard top. I hate the way my current aero handles, with the roof off it's a joke to drive I'm looking forward to being in a hardtop again soon... Dnk
I think you've answered your own question Josh Go buy a tt is what i'd be doing, i doubt you can cure the wobbly chassis with the kits i've seen, maybe fitting a full cage would help but no ABS is like driving in the stoneage Edited November 6, 2013 by Dnk (see edit history)
David P
Wobble wobble wobble!! VIZ character Terry F***wit say's "Wibble wibble wibble"!? You've only recently outgrown your pram-top. You can have a drive of mine next year, you may be surprised Although I probably have about 100kg's of bracing once I have a cage in it. jim
In theory you'd save money by selling the aero and buying a similar spec'd hardtop na to convert if that's what you want to do, although just buying a tt is far more sensible these days. You should be able to get the top end of the price scale for an n/a with your one bud.
garethr
Buy N/A auto hardtop, swap drivetrain and all nice bits, sell N/A auto aerotop? That way you keep everything except the paint. LOGIE
You have a great NA there. Keep it as it is and enjoy it for what it is. Albeit an NA aero. Theres a few TT guys nowadays going back to NA. Keep your money in your pocket and save for a year and see how you feel...if you still want power sell and buy a TT
