Josh
If you have actual UK spec turbos, you won't need a restrictor ring, as I believe the wastegates are larger so the car won't go over stock boost without the boost controller. My turbos are apparently hybrids, and they will boost over 1bar without the restrictor ring (hitting 1.5bar momentarily once).
mac79
I am getting my nur spec fitted saturday morning and i was going to the second cat removed but now seeing that when its cold you need FCD, i am thinking go cat back until i am ready to go full decat or at least until i get a FCD. As its all being fitted might as well get the 2nd decat fitted, you prob wont hit fuel cut unless long motorway pulls at WOT
Nic
The 1st cat is the most restrictive of the 2, removing only the 2nd cat now won't make a huge difference, if the boost does rise above 1bar you could just fit a restrictor ring to keep it from hitting fuel cut. Personally I'd wait until you have all the BPU parts (Fuel pump, 1st and 2nd decat pipes, restrictor ring, FCD, boost gauge, cooler grade spark plugs). mac79
I think i might just fit the restrictor ring anyway as i will need it later down the line.
Marcus GTE
Will a UK SPEC still need an FCD? I couldn't find a definite answer on that anywhere. Yes you still need a fcd on a UK spec. As Nic has said, best thing to do is go for all BPU mods as they are designed to protect the engine as well as improve performance.
