A couple of issues (I think alarm/immobiliser related) - Not starting & no throttle

A month or 2 ago I encountered a problem with the new Supra - I turned the alarm off, unlocked the car and turned the key (shock :D )... it sounded like it was firing up fine but then cut out. It didn't hesitate on turning the key or anything; just sounded like it fired fine, rumbled, then cut out completely. I i turned the key back, tried again and the same thing happened. I then took the key out, tried again - same thing once more.

After a couple of minutes of scratching my head, I closed the doors, locked the car and activated the alarm. I then went through the aforementioned procedure and it fired fine without hesitation. I let it run for a minute - no issues. Turned the car off, turned the key again and it fired up perfectly again.

I thought it strange but just forgot about it. Until today of course - the exact same thing happened. It required alarming/dealarming again before it would start. Then, as before, it was perfectly fine once this had been carried out.

Further to this, I had a strange throttle related problem a couple of weeks ago as well:

I was driving along normally (off boost in other words :D ), car was up to temperature (oil and water temp both at 88deg), and I got stopped at set of traffic lights. As they changed I put the car into first and took the handbrake off to set off. Nothing. The accelerator just did absolutely nothing at all. I took the car out of gear and tried to rev - still nothing at all. I then turned the key back, tried again and fired up fine, tried to rev and the same thing happened. I then took the key out, tried again - same thing once more. I then locked the car and activated the alarm. I then went through the aforementioned procedure and it fired fine and when I revved BINGO! Everything was absolutely fine and I drove off without issue. I then pulled over, turned the car off and then back on and went off again (just to ensure it didn't happen again immediately).

I thought that it must be something to do with the VVTi FBW set-up, yet I'm not totally sure due to the similar way of resolving the problem I had with the car not starting properly in the first instance?

Has any of this happened to anyone before? I've searched for previous threads and haven't found anything conclusive.

I'm also yet to pull up any fault codes. I should really have done that before starting the thread, however, I didn't :D

Thanks in advance.

It definetly sounds like an immbiliser issue, it sounds like the anti hi-jack feature is kicking in, Cliffords can be iffy sometimes.

Quick question, do you have a turbo timer?

Yeah, I had a Toad alarm last time, but the Cobra this time.

There is a turbo timer fitted mate, yep.

Remove the turbo timer, it should be an easy 30 second job of just unplugging it from the ignition loom and plugging the loom back in normally, if you drop the lower panel underneath the steering column, you should see it.

I only say this as the turbo timer caused issues on mine, plus you don't really need one.
