FOSTA
Hi guys, My supra has developed a nice high pitched whistling noise, I've located it to the throttle body on the cable mechanism side. Its coming from where the shaft goes into the throttle body for the butterfly. Is there like a rebuild kit or maby like a rubber doughnut seal in there that I need to replace or something. My A/F gauge is showing up fine with this noise like but it needs sorting as its so annoying! Lol Here is a video so you get an idea http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb161/jamielfoster86/21F5EC65-5424-4850-B3CA-40F9181311D1-461-0000011BE8F355BB_zpscfb83294.mp4 Cheers guys Edited October 29, 2013 by FOSTA (see edit history)

TheTurtleshead
Does it stop if you take the auxiliary belt off?
FOSTA
Hummm! It worked fine for me :/ I'll add another video of another members car with the same problem (This one is not my car but same noise)
FOSTA
Does it stop if you take the auxiliary belt off? Nope, it's from the throttle body dude for sure ive checked everything else and 100% sure its throttle body. The noise even changed slightly when I try and wobble the shaft into the throttle body for the butterfly.
bradleyh_15
It's where the butterfly valve isn't fully closing
LOGIE
Source a new throttle body then? Keron...when he returns.
FOSTA
It's where the butterfly valve isn't fully closing You sure dude, The revs seem to be perfect. I can't remember off the too of my head but I should beable to to fully close it from the mechanism. I could swear its comming from where the shaft comes out as if I put my ear on the over side I cans hear it as much but if I put my ear next to the shaft Its really loud! Now I think of it I'm dam sure it's coming from the shaft. - - - Updated - - - Source a new throttle body then? Keron...when he returns. Can you not just replace a seal? Kaan W
Does the noise only occur on start up from cold or is it permanent? Mine used to do it but the sound came from a breather on the intake manifold. It stops once warmed up though.

Josh42
I had this. Try reseating the gasket that sits between the throttle body and the 'Y' pipe mate
bradleyh_15
Permanent dude. When mine was doing that it was due to the valve not fully closing and it was the most minutest bit not closed and made that horrible high pitched noise you speak of. Mine was only when it was idling.

Cheers

Big Supes
Have you thought about spraying the throttle body with a gas leak detection fluid? It might point you in the right direction.
